There will be a new release of the device manager that will ID the 20S devices - hopefully in the next couple of days or so. Thanks for your patience.

Had this issue on one of a dual pack 20S. (iMac running Yosemite). Called Sena and got through with a Sena Tech. After 5 minutes of testing found the one unit that would not firmware contact / upgrade was defective. Unit replaced and now update and new unit works great.

Sena SMH10R cannot connect to either my iMac or my MacBook Pro.  I get "Failed to recognize device.  Cannot open USB [1][N]" every time.

Any help from Sena support would be welcome.

Here are some tips you can use. I have done this on a macbook pro w/ yosemite, previously with maverick.

    1. Uninstall the sena device manager

    2. Create a new user account in your mac and give it "admin" rights and password.

    3. Reboot your mac and login using the new account, download and install the sena device manager to that new user account.

    4. If you have a 20S do not power on this device. If you have SMH10R/10/5 model, you need to power on this device, during the recognition. (read and follow the instructions on the screen).

note: use the USB cord that came with your device.

you can also try to attempt this on a windows pc if one is available.

there are several videos on youtube on how this is done.

    VOILA!!! and it worked bjj.

Can't express my gratitude for your gracious and timely tips which saved me a lot of trouble, expense, delays, and frustration with this brand.

Five on five from my end to this solution which worked for me right first time.

    Hello,

Just following up to let you know I was able to resolve the issue.  I was able to use my iMac with bluetooth turned on and with USB 3.0 connections.
In short, I followed instructions based on bjj’s comment:

I also had to hold the “-“ button on the headset while the device manager was looking for the device.  I also had to hold the “-“ button while the firmware was downloading otherwise it lost connection.  Finally, when attempting to pair the device with the latest firmware to my iPhone, I had to turn bluetooth OFF on my iPhone and then turn bluetooth ON on my iPhone before it would successfully pair.
    Thanks for the info bjj!
