I do listen to MP3's on my SR10's and the audio is awesome. I Don't like that the music has to be turned off before I can use the intercom function or that we can't both listen to the same bluetooth audio source. I would prefer that I can listen to both (multiplex) both audio sources at the same time. (music and intercom)

So the mono narrow band sound of your MP3's are not an issue for you?   I really miss being able to listen to wideband stereo just as if I used the SMH10 to link directly to my iPhone. There I get the fullest fidelity. But it is intersting that you think the mono sound is awesome. Guess I am just one of those that appreciate higher fidelity.

I have not yet tried the intercom function. Did not realize that it was able to do so, or are you using the SMH10 to SMH10 intercom feature? If so, then yes that would make sense.

Personally, I used the intercom once and never again. All of my friends use two way radios instead and that is why the SR10 is valueable as this allows me to use the iphone and my two way radio at the same time.

I am a motorcycle riding instructor, so I bought the sena's with the bike to bike feature in mind. I just checked, and the book indicates that the Sena's are stereo. I do like to listen to music when I'm not teaching, but I find it annoying that I can't have both music and intercom working simultaneously. I don't turn the music off in the car when I'm talking to my passenger.

Yea, I hear ya.. To clarify, the SR10 is not stereo the SMH10 is,  so if you expect to use it for stereo music, you will be dissapointed.  Hopefully a new product offering will support it soon. The other problem is that if I want to listen to a podcast on the iphone on the SR10, I can't if I use the BT link.. I am forced to use a cable into the AUX port.  It is the only way I can hear at least mono audio as the A2DP profile sent by the phone when listening to the podcast is not supported by the SR10.

I think the problem is the SR10 connects to the SMH10 with only hands free profile, which is only mono.

They would need to have the SR10 connect to the SMH10 with both hands free profile and Headset profile to facilitate the stereo audio signal.

Because the SMH10 can only listen to 1 hands free, and 1 head set profile at a time, they would need to allow your MP3 player (if Bluetooth) to be able to connect to the SR10 (with bluetooth) , which would then forward it to the SMH10.

@towpro. That sounds like the solution. I hope to see that idea come through soon.

Please Please Please Make the sr10 Stereo...I thought this is what most people used this unit for..We would like to stream music from our phone to the sr10 and stream two way radio audio. The iphone not sure about others already mutes the music as a call comes in. At this point I have my Iphone paired to my lg hbs700 headset for music and the headset is also paired to the sr10..The problem is when i hit the ptt it disconnects the music for about 30 to 40 seconds after my two way conversation while the headset reconnects with phone...I would like to run it all thru the sr10....

HFP and A2DP profiles are different in Bluetooth standard design.
The audio quality is not just different in one-speaker mono and two-speaker stereo.
The sampling rate of HFP is typically 8KHz and that of A2DP is higher than 32KHz (typically, 44.1~48KHz), which means the HFP audio signals are much more coarse than A2DP signals. HFP doesn't look applicable for music listening.
The SR10 supports only HFP and it is not designed for music listening applications.

Solution: Some of the solutions may work, but they cannot completely resolve the issues from Bluetooth technology design.

    - Multi-point support is supposed to be provided in SMH10 V4 firmware which will be released in spring time. It means if you use SMH10 then you can connect one smartphone (HFP & A2DP) and SR10 (HFP) at the same time. You may hear the phone call voice and GPS instruction at the same time without loosing one connection.
    - Bluetooth Stereo adapter: We are supposed to release the SM10 that supports A2DP in spring time. This is different product that supports A2DP only for onboard audio system of motorcycles. It doesn't support HFP though.

Please understand that some of the users' requests are beyond the limit Bluetooth technology. Nevertheless, we will try our best to satisfy our customers by providing best fit system for motorcycle riding. We will keep you updated when we have a progress in this issues. Thanks for your feedbacks.

Is there any way to make the sr10 a2dp compliant or is that a problem with two way radios that need to be hfp? just wondering since the smh10 can be updated?? thanks for the great answers...

The FTM-10R /SR radio effectively switches from A2DP to HFP depending on what the radio is currently receiving. So for example while listening to a two-way radio transmission, it uses HFP. Then when there is no two-way radio traffic and after a 5 second delay, the radio switches to an FM station or Stereo Line input source (selectable) and it works great.

I was hoping that the SR10 would do something like this as well. Of course there is a dilemma however that if you tie your IPhone in using a cable, you will be stuck in A2DP and therefore a phone call cannot be processed property as there will be no microphone audio. However if the SR10 was synced via BT to the IPhone and the profile change when going from music to phone call was detected, I would thing the SR10 would be able to process the profile change seamlessly. I suspect that is what Sena will be working on next, or at least I would like to recommend that enhancement.

I got my SR10 working with my Yaesu VX-7r handheld radio (hardwired) & my Android phone (bluetooth) for HFP phone calls and voice dial only.  I then selectively paired my SR10 to my SMH10 under HFP and then paired my Android phone again to the SMH10 under A2DP.  This seems to work well.  I can listen to stereo music and GPS from the phone directly to the SMH10, but if I'm on the 2 way radio or a phone call, the SMH10 automatically switches to the SR10's HFP connection (pauses and resumes my music too).  This should work for any smart phone that can selectively pair to separate HFP and A2DP devices simultaneously.  It's not ideal and has some glitches, but is functional enough that I am not distracted by malfunctioning bluetooth connections while riding.

I too would be interested in a stereo SR10. For me, most of my riding is solo, and I don't need intercom or 2 way GMRS/FRS/CB, although it's nice to have. What I really use it for is the music stream from my DroidX smart phone. In the past, with an Autocom ProM1 system, I also used a priority audiobox to feed in additional audio inputs to the automobile stereo music feed such as weather radio/police scanner (mono one channel), GPS (mono one channel), MP3 player (stereo), and radar detector (mono one channel). The SMH10 works great with my smartphone which has limited MP3 capacity, but I no longer have a way to monitor the radar detector or police scanner in mono, or any way to utilize another stereo music feed from an MP3 or IPod. My Garmin motorcycle GPS is much more reliable than the smartphone, which crashes the phone.

We are supposed to release SM10 which supports only Bluetooth music (A2DP) to connect wirelessly an audio device to your Bluetooth headset. In addition, it has music sharing function that you and your passenger can listen to music at the same time.

    Thank you for your suggestion.

any news on a SR-10 like device that has A2DP profiles as well as HFP?  I have zumo 665 and am thinking about getting a SR-10 with plans to hard wire zumo to SR-10 and pair it  via multipoint to my SMH-10 and pair my phone to SMH-10 via HFP/A2DP.  Since current SR-10 only has HFP, I could not listen to XM from the zumo.  What I really am  hoping is that you offer SR-10 that adds A2DP AND with firmware update you allow SMH-10 to connect to 2 A2DP sources at same time-kinda like the multipoint you use for HFP.  You only need to actually use one of the A2DP connections at a time-whichever is actaully playing something either my phone or the zumo.

As Lu and Hammerasch already wrote: Can Sena modify the SR10 that in case of no radio or telephone signals the audio on Aux1 and Aux2 will be transmitted via A2DP. As soon as there is a signal coming from the radio or telephone it switch automatically to HFP and remain until none of these signals are there anymore. With this way the Aux-signals in the HFP mode can be still heard in mono which is not bad to hear the announcements of the e.g. navigation devices. Like all the other users I would buy two SMH10 and a SR10 immediately if the SR10 would support both protocols.

I also would suggest a combination of SR10 and SM10. Two SMH10 get a connection not direct but via this combination device. Than both SMH10 can hear the same simultaneously (A2DP) and if they start to speak the entire "group" will be switched to HFP. With this way both can enjoy the music in stereo and in case of radio, telephone or helmet-to-helmet communication the music and announcements at Aux1 and Aux2 can still be heard in mono (a few dB attenuated, adjustable) but both can speak to each other or use together the telephone or the radio. In this case I would buy such an entire set immediately no matter how much it would cost.

Currently I'm using a bluetooth headset which supports both protocols but switch over from a A2DP device to a HFP device (ether/or) as soon as an audio signal is at the HFP. The manufacturers HFP device doesn't allow any other audio connections :-(  The disadvantage is that in case of a radio signal I can not hear my navi announcements of the A2DP device anymore because of the lower priority (my navi contains a MP3 player by the way so that I hear the music on this way). Or I can not speak to my wife because the helmet-to-helmet communication got the highest priority. So I have to leave the radio off when I'm driving in a city and my wife have to be silent the entire time. I'm very unsatisfied about that all and looking for a solution like the mentioned combination of SR10 and SM10, minimum  a SR10 which support A2DP and HFP. If Sena could manufacture such a combination device I guess that I'm not the only one which have interest.
