Thank you for your suggestion. We will take this into account for next firmware release. Trade-off between flexibility and complexity.... We will study what we can do....

The SMH10 should let the intercom working while a GPS (in my case a Zumo 660) speakes.

This would be great for us folks using the Garmin 765 series. GPS directions from this Garmin unit are seen as audio (same level as MP3 music). The intercom is at a higher priority level and blocks the GPS directions. I'd like to see priority - Phone, Audio/MP3, Intercom

I agree. This is my biggest issue. I can't pair my phone with the unit because I use it for GPS and if the intercom is on I miss turns. So I can't use the phone or mp3 functionality either since I have to keep the phone plugged into the bike's stereo so I don't miss GPS turns.

+1 on setting your own priority levels.
Could be added as a subset of the 'Device Settings' menu tab in the Sena Manager app?

    Thanks!

Second that! More specifically, it would be great to set AD2P priority over intercom. This would allow users of a sat nav app on their iPhone to keep getting nav guidance while intercom is on.

    Update:

I've recently added an SR10 to my setup and am multi-point pairing it with my cell phone to the Sena SMH10.  Since the mutli-point pairing, I notice that my phone (A2DP music) connection is getting dropped while the headset is looking for the SR10 - the player continues playing, it's not paused... just no audio reaches the headset and the audio does not come back until I stop and restart my audio player manually using the jog dial press and hold method.  This situation occurs even when the SR10 is powered off.

The priority feature comes to mind again since this issue has started... and it might also be nice to be able to set the order in which the SMH10 searches for paired devices when powered up..  right now it connects to phone audio, then phone ad2p, then SR10... if it could be forced to attempt to connect to the SR10 before attempting to connect to the phone/a2dp then I think everything would work as intended.

Any updates from Sena on the chance of getting this sort of thing added to upcoming SMH10 firmware?  Any other hints you can give us about the next FW for us to get excited about yet? :)

    Thanks!

The SMH10 is marketed as, "a long-range Bluetooth intercom designed specifically for motorcycles."  Contrary to this purpose, on page 23 of the manual, and in practice, the, "GPS voice instruction interrupts intercom conversation."  When trying to communicate upcoming directions with other riders the GPS often overrides the intercom and leaves the others in the dark.  This has caused inumerable problems and some close calls while driving in traffic or within a city with many streets and turns closely spaced.  When riding in the country with minimal course changes this usually is not an issue.

A perfect solution, as evidenced by the previous comments, would be to allow the user to set the function priority to suit their own tastes.  Failing that, I would prefer to see the intercom function be given the highest priority with other functions, specifically the GPS, be heard as a low volume instruction similar to the way the SMH10 says, intercom requested."  My wife, who is my customary other rider, is very frustrated and is sorry we purchased these intercoms.  And as you know, "When Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."

Sena Technologies has not provided any updates on this topic in nearly a year.  Can we get some information on what the status is?

    /Agree

Sena - A status update would be much appreciated on some of the 'in limbo' topics on the board...  kind of seems like you guys have forgotten about the forums lately :(

I suspect a lot of the changes may be slated for the next firmware release based on some of the previous comments... could be maybe get a rough ETA on when that next release might be coming?  I mean really rough... like still sometime in 2012 if all goes well?  Or Aiming at Q1 2013?  Please? :)

    Thanks!

FYI - this was a post I made back in August.   /Agree a status update would be nice

SR10 Wired Audio Configurable Multiplexing (w/ Prioritization)

    DeadEye
    suggested this on August 26, 2012 22:35

Different riding conditions and scenarios require flexibility in the configuration and behavior of the SR10.

I would like to build on concept that  Mark Harrison's suggested in a forum thread on Audio Mixing.  The concept that I would like to introduce is customizable / prioritization options for the SR10 to function as a Audio Mixer OR an Audio Mux. Specifically regarding how the SR10 mixes and switches the (3) wired audio inputs.

Via the SR10 Manager interface, I would like to have the ability to:

    1) Turn the AUX Audio Mixing ON / OFF (If ON, all audio sources would be mixed together as they are today under the SR10 v1.2 firmware functionality)

    2) If Audio Mixing is OFF the SR10 will function as a Audio Multiplexor with the ability to set the priority for each of the 3 SR10 wired audio inputs individually (i.e. the 2-way radio, AUX1 & AUX2).  Conceptually, higher audio priority inputs override  lower priority inputs if simultaneous audio input signals are detected.  An optional  "connection hold" value (e.g. hold the audio input source open for n seconds after no audio is detected) would also be desirable for fine tuning beyond default values.

EXAMPLE 1: Assume a 2-way radio is connected via the hi-rose connector, a GPS on AUX1, and a Radar Detector on AUX2.

USE-CASE#1- "I Like Talking to My Riding Buddies, but I don't Want to Get a Ticket"SETTINGS VIA SR10 Manager > Priority=1  AUX2 (Radar Detector).  Priority=2 HI-ROSE (2-way radio audio).  Priority=3  AUX1 (GPS).  OUTCOME FOR THIS USE-CASE:  GPS audio directions would be heard unless a incoming 2-way radio signal was detected (GPS audio would be switched off, 2-way radio audio on), the 2-way radio audio and GPS audio would be switched off if an audio signal was detected from the Radar Detector (which carries the highest priority).

    **

EXAMPLE 2: Assume a 2-way radio is connected via the hi-rose connector, a GPS on AUX1, and a UHF radio scanner on AUX2.

USE-CASE#2- "A Very Large Ride Event with Multiple Ride Groups, and Support / Chase Vehicles with  Radio Communication". SETTINGS VIA SR10 Manager >  Priority=1 HI-ROSE (2-way radio audio).  Priority=2  AUX1 (GPS).  Priority=3  AUX2 (UHF Radio Scanner to monitor multiple Ride Group / Support Channels). OUTCOME FOR THIS USE-CASE:  A broad range of UHF channels can be monitored ( listened to (weather, hazard, emergency, etc.), GPS audio directions would override the UHF monitored audio,  unless a specific communication was received  via the 2-way radio, which would then take priority over all other audio).

    **

There are many other potential use-cases,  scenarios, and specific applications where riders would benefit from having the increased control over the behavior of the SR10. Specifically in the multiplexing  management and prioritization of wired audio inputs.  I believe the proposed functionality to be a desirable capability across your entire SR10 customer base, providing the ultimate in product  flexibility, and if implemented, would further sustain and extend SENA's market leading capability in the motorcycle communication integration space.

Can you provide this capability in the SR10 v1.3 release ?

This setting would be nice, as I have my phone setup to read text msgs over the smh10, works fine when I'm listening to music, but not when I'm using the intercom Thanks

Why is this set to not planned :O This would be great/solve a lot of problems.  I don't understand the "Trade-off between flexibility and complexity" because this would greatly enhance flexibility and the complexity can be dealt with through software (setting through Windows software, hide option in advanced tab) . So unless complexity is referring to Sena engineers having problems then I would really like you to reconsider this idea.

yeah, audio ducking would be great.  Enabled/Disabled.  That simple.  When a person speaks, the audio is attenuated momentarily WHILE the voice is happening, and immediately returns to previous volume when talking stops.

Well its been almot 7 years since Sena's first response " We will take this into account for next firmware release."

They obviously dont care enough abouts its customers to offer this simple thing.

Just remember to take Sena's attitude into account when buying your next unit.  I know I will be.
