Volume control for SM10
Just received SM10 and can't hear a thing unless output volume is max as well as SMH volume - need ability to control output - or is my device faulty?

Depending on the audio device type, the status may not be same. What is your device? Could you explain more on your setup?

Same problem as he has... My setup is Galaxy S3 wired to main input of SM10 and Radar to the aux port which is connected via bluetooth to the SMH10 headset. Teh Galaxy S3 is not loud enough... It is allot lauder if connected straight bluetooth to the SMH-10 without going throught the SM10 hub.

I have requested that the 'Audio' port volume be lowered more or 'Muted' when the 'AUX' port gets activated.
I have my SM10 hooked to the factory BMW communication system on my K1200LT & the 'AUX' hooked to a Garmin Montana. When riding at speed Above 100 kph you need the AUDIO louder to hear (wind noise & I wear ear plugs) & if the GPS is in Navigation mode you can't hear the directions given even with the audio set to max on the GPS.

@PhillipHodge: Check out my suggestion on "SR10 Wired Audio Configurable Multiplexing (w/ Prioritization)" sounds similar to what you are asking for on the SM10.

The SM10 manual suggests a software program to be able to adjust the volume settings. I am unable to find it in the software / updates section. I am having some other difficulties as well. I beleive the SM10 is locking up my ipod, it has happened on two different ipod models. The music will show available but the frozen ipod is unable to play, forcing a reboot of the ipod.
Is it possible to raise the overall output volume of the SM10...it is much weaker than a direct plug into the aux port on a pair of Scala G9's.

Hello John,
There is no software update as of yet, however if there was, it would not change the output volume.
The volume reduction is a limitation of the 3rd party device, iPod in your case. The music source does not have enough power to push audio through 2 devices. We recommend a simple headphone amplifier between the music source and the SM10; normally the higher the quality, the more volume increase. Here are some examples:

Anastassia, Thank you for getting back to me. While I’m happy for some sort of a solution with the amplifier, it begs the question… Just what did SENA thing people were going to connect to the SM10? Nowhere did I read NOT compatible with iPod devices. Is there some “other” music device that actually works with the SM10? Same goes for the GPS, it is equally “weak” in that I can hear it less than I can hear the iPod. I don’t get it… I would have to purchase TWO of these amplifiers to pump up the volume of each device in order for you SM10 to function properly!
Please explain. That would be another $120 bucks!!!

We apologize for the inconvenience. The SM10 is primarily meant for the HD and Goldwing onboard audio systems and for 2 riders to share audio.

REALLY !!! The following is taken from your web site description. Nowhere does it even mention the “primary use with HD and Goldwing onboard.” In fact is states that function as “also” supports… WOW talk about misrepresenting a product! You go SENA ! I will do MY best to get the word out about the SM10 !

Above is the back and forth of my complaint. It is pretty obvious I am not alone, and SENA is simply missrepresenting what the SM10 is capable of.

I have made comment on the SM10 performance. I have just returned from 10 days on the road with my BMW K1200LT using the SM10 hooked through the Mfg communications system (aka Goldwing/Harley). It performed quite well in this manner, but as stated when relying on the SM10 with Audio input for say an Ipod (like I have) the volume is not adequate with wind noise there just isn't enough volume. I have also used a BoosteRoo audio booster on the AUX port (have my Garmin Montana GPS hooked to) that provides a boost to the audio on the GPS directions, but again it requires the volume of the AUDIO to be reduced in order to hear it clearly.
SENA need to do a little work on the muting of the AUDIO circuit when the AUX cuts in.
PS. But all that being said my wife & I enjoyed listening to the same music & that part works great.

Has anyone had problems with hearing their radar detector through the SM10 or directly wired to the SMH10?? I can't get anything except for a very low ping sound upon startup of the detector. I am using a Passport 8500 unit. The radar jack is working fine with earbuds plugged into it. What am I doing wrong and what type of cable are you guys n gals using for this setup?? I've tried everything I can think of.

I have the same issue as Pacabada...........connecting my Escort Passport to the SM10 results in zero audio signal going to my SMH10 headset. I even went and got a stereo to mono adapter to put between the SENA supplied cable and my radar detector. Again, nothing but a faint little click sound when the radar detector goes off. This makes no sense to me. Connecting a set of headphones to my radar detector yields a really loud signal. What is the solution to this problem?

Hi Frank, I solved my issue by purchasing the ground loop isolater from the Escort website under accessories. It's listed as a motorcycle adapter I think. It works is the great thing! Enjoy

I have the same problem as Pacabada and Frank. I am going to buy the adapter from Escort. I hope it works because I don't want to send back another unit.

It works great and solved a problem I was having in a Bluetooth application. I understand that its a mono output so I only get audio in one ear. Disappointing but I can live with it.
An extra $25 but overall I saved by buying the SM10 from the eBay discounters....so I'm happy and have the benefit of an extra input port for some other non-BT device like am iPod
