Klaus, what kind of Bluetooth headset are you using when paired with the GP10?

Any news? anything we can do to work around (I'm considering tapping the external microphones with cloth or something else)

I tried using foam to attenuate the wind noise from the two external microphones placed on each side of the GP10 unit, with no success. The lack of gain control, allied with the microphone's placement not helping for wind noise, as well as the noticeable lag between the external mics and the sound coming from my SMH10-11 essentially makes using the GP10 a very frustrating experience..

I'd recommend better firmware to allow gain control, perfect synchronization between the sound sources, perhaps even recording the different sound sources on separate sound streams (or external file), as well as placing the microphones on the back side of the unit instead of on the sides.

The situation is that right now I can either only get my voice through my SMH10-11 mic OR get a lot of wind noise from the GP10 unit, or combine both (both mics on) and add to that a lack-of-synchronization. VERY FRUSTRATING.

Klaus, if you have your SMH10-11 updated with the latest firmware (v5.1) then there is a setting in the Configuration Menu called Advance Noise Control that you can disable which will allow you to record both your voice and the outside noise. Please refer to section 9.6 in the User's Guide for more information: http://www.sena.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/UsersGuide_Sena_SMH10_v5.1_en_20140918.pdf.

I have the latest firmware, and I'm already not using the advanced noise control because I'm recording in ultra hd mode.

The sound is still out of sync, and the gain control I refer above is for the external mics in the GP10 unit - NOT the SMH10 headset.

As it is, the external mics are UNUSABLE due to 1) out-of-sync sound with the sound coming from the SMH10 headset and 2) wind noise overwhelming the mic, even at slow speeds such as 30mph.

    Sena, any solution?

Sena, there are two important issues with the GP10 backpack:

    1) Audio from the unit's external mic ("MIC = ON") is out-of-sync with the input coming from the bluetooth headset. Meaning whenever I try to use both sound inputs at the same time (headset for voice and GP10's external mics for ambient noise), there is a very long and annoying echo. Have you guys even tested this scenario? It should be supported, otherwise why the "MIC = ON" switch on the back of the unit?

    2) The external microphones on the GP10 unit catch TOO MUCH WIND NOISE, even riding at as little as 15mph - essentially making it useless for catching ambient noise while riding.

Sena, any solution? I'm frustrated with this product's issues and growing impatient with Sena's support on this.

At the moment, there is nothing we can do about the echo because the issue is caused by the GP10 recording the audio immediately using the external microphones while the audio from the headset's microphone is being converted from a Bluetooth signal into an audio signal that is then recorded onto the GoPro. The conversion process is why there are two audio signals and an echo when replaying the audio recorded by the GoPro and GP10.

For using the external microphones on the GP10 to record audio from a Bluetooth headset then it is recommended to put some distance between the two devices so that the external mics don't pick up the audio spoken into the headset, such as 3 meters. If you aren't able to have that kind of distance like riding on a motorcycle then it is best to turn the external microphone switch to Off and record your audio (and background audio if you prefer) only through the headset. The headset will be able to reduce the wind noise that will be recorded onto the GoPro.

I have the same problem with the mic on the go-pro bluetooth pack being next to useless due to wind noise. Before reading this, I have already suggested what I believe to be a simple solution. The GoPro already records two audio channels (stereo), so we have two audio sources, and two recorded channels. The solution is simple, instead of mixing them, have an option that records one to left and the other to right. Then people can mix in post to whatever levels they choose.

I have just sent in a question about this also. Is there an answer yet Sena because this person above has alteady bought it to your attention? Having the gp10 mic input as left and the shm10 mic input as right would allow us to play with levels and also adjust so that there is no delay and echo?

Any news here? It looks to me like Sena lost interest on this product since there are MANY similar feature requests on the forum, none answered so far.
