Will the 20S pair with the original SMH10 v1.0?
I have a pair of old SMH10 v1.0 units. These are the ones that have no ability to update the firmware because there is no micro-USB port.
I now have a 20S, and I want to be able to get an intercom connection between it and an SMH10.
Will this intercom pairing ever work?
I have tried to pair the units and I have partial success, but it never works quite right. The closest I can get is when the devices report successful pairing, but when I hit the jog button to start an intercom conversation, I get a one-way connection (I can hear audio from one unit in the other, but not vice-versa). It is not even consistent which way the audio works. Sometimes the 20S will transmit to the SMH10, and other times the SMH10 will transmit audio to the 20S, but never both ways at the same time.
Usually it doesn't matter that it's only one-way, because it also only seems to work once, and then once that conversation is ended, another conversation cannot be started again. Both devices simply report "intercom failed" (two low-tone beeps on the SMH10) after that.
It is extremely frustrating that after investing in the 20S that is supposed to be capable of "universal" intercom connections, I cannot even get it to connect to another Sena device. The SMH10 devices still connect to each other with no issue, so I know they are both functional. And everything else on the 20S is working, too.
Is there any hope in getting this combination to work? Is there a more technically challenging way to update the firmware in the older SMH10 units to make it work - e.g. by opening them up or updating over Bluetooth from a PC?
Would you offer any discount to trade in the SMH10 v1.0 units for more recent SMH10 units that allow firmware updates?

The 20S is able to be paired with the original model of the SMH10. The intercom connection between has been improved to be more reliable but that only applies to the version of the SMH10 that is firmware upgradable. There is no way to upgrade the firmware on the original SMH10 as the port on the side is only for charging the main unit and updating the firmware over Bluetooth is not currently available. It is recommended to purchase the main unit of the SMH10 that includes the microUSB port so that the firmware can be updated to utilize all of the features that have been added to the SMH10 through firmware updates.
