What's wrong with the volume knob when in radio mode?

I work for Gateway BMW, we are a Sena dealer. One of our customers (William Graham) just bought a 20s. I installed it after updating the drivers and charging it. I paired his iPhone and walked him through the use of the 20s. He has custom fit ear buds that he uses. When he is plugged in, and in radio mode, he says one of the presets we put in his app does come up for a moment, but then the whole thing "drops out" when he tries to adjust the volume. He says when he rotates the jog dial / volume dial, it "beeps then goes quiet". One time it came back on after a couple minutes, but otherwise not.

I have tried to replicate this without ear buds, but when the speakers are engaged the volume works just fine.

  Maybe the impedance on the custom fit ear buds could be too high and the 20s can't supply enough voltage to drive them?  The ear buds I use in mine are 16 ohm.   Disclaimer:  This is a user response, not technical support!
