Cycling Helmets Strap Clips Break

I have a similar problem in that the fake leather has deteriorated and it's sewn in. I'm not finding a way to replace it.

I recently purchased two R2 helmets from Amazon. One had a broken side strap clamp when I inspected the helmet after opening the box. The other helmet was purchased from Amazon's return store, and, of course, it didn't say what was wrong with the helmet. Guess what, one of the side strap clamps was broken. So, this is a design flaw with the helmet strapping system. Why return the helmets when the side strap clamps eventually, or immediately break on a majority of them! Sena obviously knows about this, and I have seen no good remedy for this issue on-line. The design of the strapping system is such that you cannot get a new clamp from Sena or another company and string it through the maze of strapping. If you got a replacement Sena clamp, you would need to take it apart and try to replace the broken part with the part from the new clamp. By doing that, you could break it. I may just have to keep both helmets and make due. My remedy now is to wrap some quality duct tape where the clamp should be. I tried that once and it seems to hold well, but I haven't tried this setup in the strapping system of the helmet on a bike yet. This is ridiculous!!!

Will this work? Just had the same problem and this appears to be something that could replace the broken "clamps"

This Amazon and Trek clips look good however, they both look like you need to feed the end of the strap through the holes. The straps on the Sena helmet are glued, so personally I would not want to remove and re-glue them due to safety concerns.

Actually, I double check the helmet and the straps are not glued down but held in with a small metal pin/rod, so your idea very well could work. Good catch!

I purchased and installed a couple of the Bontrager clips on a couple of my Sena R2 EVO helmets and they work very well. 👍

I purchased and installed the Yehveh clips mentioned above. There may be a pro and con with this clip compared to the Bontrager clip. The Yehveh clip is one solid plastic piece, which could tend to slip compared to the lockdown Bontrager clip. Regarding the Bontrager, I am now hesitant to try clips with moving plastic pieces. Thanks to those who helped me find the pin that releases the strap, allowing a replacement clip to be installed. I have not experienced any slippage of the Yehveh, so I am happy with my purchase of 10 clips for a very reasonable price.
