Sena SRL/ Shoei Neotec 2 output too low!!!
I've recently purchased a Shoei Neotec 2 with the SRL sound system, new, which I've installed. I've followed all the online suggestions to boost the volume, but anything over 40 mph and I can't barely hear anything. I've used the pads to put the speakers closer to my ears and still not good......So I bought a Cardo Pactalk and tried it and still the same, not enough output. Using my I phone 11. Used the app and added the boost option with both the SRL and the other system.......any suggestions. I'll buy another system and install, I just need to hear my stuff at 80+mph.......with my skid bucket and my stereo with amp, I have to turn it down because it hurts my ears and I can hear a tambourine at 80+mph, for $1k helmet and sound system, I'd expect the same,

It is critical that you center the speaker on your ear cannel. Where the manufacturers place the speaker pockets may not be proper for your head.
You may have to cut an area around the pocket to fit.

How did you set, gauge and verify that the speakers are directly over the ear canal? I realize this is important, but I'm having a hard time determining the accuracy....Appreciate any help

There are two ways, the one that i now use is to put your helmet on and then stick your finger inside to find your ear canal. The second is to tape a piece of paper on your face with the point at your ear canal, then have someone trace the outline of your helmet.

So here we are 2 years later and I'm unhappy to report the problem with low volume is still a problem in Nov 2022. I contact Sena Australia who say Sena built the head set to Shoei specifications and he helmet is not as quiet as they expect to its a Shoei problem. Thanks for nothing $ 490AUD wasted - can't upgrade speakers - nothing. Mr or Ms Sena I'm not feeling the Customer Satisfaction thing here.

Speaker location is critical. It fixed the problem for me. I took all the side padding off and set aside and it was easier to get my fingers up into the helmet to find proper location for speakers. I ended up scraping out some of the styrofoam helmet pad to move my speaker from the prefabricated indentation to fit flush in the proper location. I also had to cut back the foam from the cheek pads too. I didn't cut the cheek pad cover, I opened it up, removed a little foam and then rolled the cover back and reset the cheek pads. The speakers I used "museum adhesive". Just a pinch, to set the speakers in place.....Everything works 100 times better........side note, I used the Pack Talk Slim for over a year and the sound was much better. This Sena SLR2 for the Shoei helmet is much more slick the way it's made for the helmet, but the Pack Talk Slim was a bit louder.......I'm currently running the SLR2 and it's fine now that I've moved the speakers to the right location
