Ive read the comments on this page after a recent ride, noticing yet again that the speakers in my Shoei Neotec helmet are really sub par. I had a really nice pair of KOSS KSC75 earclip headphones speakers that I had purchased for my Quest 3 VR headset. They dramatically improved the sound of the VR headset. After checking out the speakers would indeed work in the Sena system, (they are in fact 60 ohm speakers), I set to and removed the earclips from the KOSS speakers, cut and tinned the wires, and removed the clip in speakers from my helmet, doing the same. Soldered them carefully together each side, being careful to keep the integrity of the microphone connector (just undo the 4 Philips head screws on the back of the clip in speakers and you can sort that easily…). A bit of Velcro to support the speakers in situ in the helmet, carefully tape up the soldering job, re route the wiring, connect the microphone and PRESTO!! I have improved the bass response and volume immensely and they sound fantastic!! The headphones here on Australia cost around $40 a pair and are well worth the upgrade. Thanks so much for giving me the confidence to upgrade this system from what I have read here. Awesome!!

I was about to throw mine in the bin as they're so shockingly bad, then I read the above comment from Simon Bowen. I thought it's worth a go before I bin them, so I ordered the same KOSS headphones and proceeded to fit them in the same way Simon did, and wow! what an improveement! The volume is now so much louder and clearer and the bass is significantly improved. I'm so glad I tried this before I binned them. Thanks Simon for sharing.

I'm still never going to buy another Sena system again though........ ;-)

Just upgraded my SRL2 to SRL-Mesh and I must give Sena some credit - they did a great job fixing most of annoying issues of this built-ins family. Volume range is now enough even for stock harman-kardon speakers to be audible at high speeds. Also EQ and separate volume controls in the app helps a lot - now it is possible to set volume levels separately for intercom and music - and I'm not sure why it cannot be backported to SRL2 firmware 🤷‍♂️

Well if that has helped one person I’m pleased with that! I have to admit I was surprised when I did it. It makes a massive difference and well worth the mucking around to do the job. Good work Adrian!

I went from the srl2 to the srl mesh. I cant say I noticed enough of an improvement. I would say the sound is comparable to one of those super old grey boom boxes with an antenna that you could run off batteries.

Tinny sounding, calls are difficult to hear at 55mph or more. If someone changes how loud they are talking mid sentence it's deafening.

Looking at a packtalk pro for my new helmet. There's also a bracket for the packtalk to mount to a GT Air 2 but it's definitely not as slick as an integrated.
