Making 2-way radios work with this unit.
The SR10 supports 2-way radios in the attached file at this moment. The other 2-way radios might work with the SR10 as long as the cable pin-out matches. Otherwise, you will need to make your own custom cable on your own.

Is there a chart for which CB's are compatible? I'm looking at the Midland 75-822 and want to understand if it will work.
@Brad
I believe radio you listed requires different type of connector than we offer. If you like, you can view pin map of our 2-way radio connector for your own customization. You can find pin map information on http://support.senabluetooth.com/entries/20535988-i-want-to-make-my-own-cable-can-you-provide-me-this-information. Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee compatibility or expected operation from customization.
I have the Midland 75-822. The cable Sena offers works the radio fine.
I am curious, I have always used CB on Goldwings, and thought I'd be left out now with the SENA headsets I just got... are you guys saying I can still use a CB through the SENA? That would be wonderful!!!! I have Midlands and they all use the same headsets for mic/speaker with two wire connectors. I usually use the HH37ST model, the ST really works and gets rid of much of the normal CB static. I've got to know about this possibility, since we ride sometimes with a group that uses CBs. Thanks for any more info you can give me, Woody
@Woody
We do not have an adapter/cable for Goldwing audio system. As for Midlands, you will find list of compatible models under SR10's Midland cable description.

That's not exactly what I'm asking Dan, how do you use the Midlands with the SENA? How does it work? Are you just using the headset without the snap on body containing the electronics? Or does it all feed through the SENA unit?
@Woody
SR10 is an audio hub without any microphone or speaker; it can only relay audio from device to another. SR10 and Midland will be connected via cable which will use same port as headset connector on compatible Midland radios. This connection will support audio in and out along with PTT signal. PTT can be triggered from SR10, but microphone(audio in) and speakers(audio out) will be through SR10 connected Bluetooth headset like SMH10.
You may want to view SR10 connection guide posted on our website.

I was confusing the SR10 with the SCH10, sorry, I realize now they are totally different devices!!
Couple of related questions regarding use with CB radios:
1) When can we expect an updated hardware revision for the SR10 to support the wired PTT and CB radios
2) How can we identify the new hardware version when purchasing from an online retailer?
Filed and closed a help-desk ticket for this issue, thought this would be a better way to get updates.
If you are having trouble with CB radio, please contact Sena support directly by sending a support email or submitting a support ticket from this help desk.
Hello friends first I want to send a fraternal greeting from Venezuela did not speak or write the English language but I can use the google translator to communicate with you. I have a 40 channel CB Radio Midland 75-822 model I want to know if I can use my radio midland cb with SENA Bluetooth SR10 and if that is possible for such work. thank all hope very immediate response.
I use it with a Mitex General 5W two way radios (UK branded Quanzhou SFE Electronic Technology Co Ltd, S820) for bike to bike. Mine works fine with the Cardo Scala-rider Teamset. and a Zumo 550. The only slight niggle I have had is that the channel does not always drop after a bike to bike conversation has ended. I don't generally use the audio from my Zumo because I find it distracting, but if you are a Tom Tom Rider user then you won't be able to connect the audio since there is no output jack on the Tom Tom.
I am really new to this. I am looking at purchasing the SMH5 dual pack for the wife and I. We are only interested in driver to passenger communication with bluetooth capability for our smart phones and a gps. I am assuming that this headset can communicate with a bluetooth gps but I am confused as to how they work. Will lane changes and such be announced through the headsets? Which gps would you recommend, without breaking the bank, for use with this system for a 3 week trip each year?
@Fred Baxter,
In this case you don't need SR10, SMH5 Dual pack will be good choice for your riding needs.
Pair your smart phone and pair your GPS as multipoint pairing, then you can hear guides from GPS while listening music from your mobile phone, also enable to intercom with your wife. We recommend Zumo 660 and 550 as compatible GPS. Thank you.
I have recently verified that the ICOM cable does fit the Cobra 38WXST CB walkie talkie as well as the Motorola FRS Talkabout 250. If you are using external power to the Cobra CB, this cable may interfere with the power cable. A workaround would be to obtain a right angle power plug.
Have Midland 75-822 connected to SR10 with SMH10-11 on helmet. Have submitted question to SENA support. This setup continually drops the connection to the CB, so much so that is has become frustrating and a nuisance to the point if I cannot resolve I will probably drop the system for a hardwired to helmet solution. Love the SMH10 but this setup, and trust me I have gone over and over the connections, rebooted, reset, re......you get the idea. So it is not the user. I am hopeful SENA has a work around for this....we'll see.
SR10 works with these CBs, Midland 75-822 and late model Radio Shack CBs (they haven't put one out since the 21-1679) but the Radio Shack ones with the same two-pin mic/speaker jack as the Midlands work fine with the Midland cable. With SR10 paired with Cardo Scala G9, the function is seamless and continuous. My first SR10 was defective and the radios would key up intermittently when I push the button. I suspected and replaced the SR10 and it works so perfectly that its no different than keying up the CB directly. Truly plug and play if the unit is good. Other CBs or HF band handhelds such as the Magnum 1012, I suspect also work as long as the pinout as labeled on the Sena website is the same. As far as mic performance on TX, my Cardo Scala is spectacular, excellent mic gain and quality. The Cardo is so reliable to key that again, its no different than using the radio directly with the Bluetooth system. You may have to source and try different wired mics to put on the helmet to get the best audio on transmit to complement your voice but radio folks already know that that is the case with any radio transmitter. A point of note when using handheld CBs or HF type radios is that your built in radio antenna does not function its best when it is not being held by your hand- this is a matter of antenna matching. The radio was designed for best antenna match while held by you. As this is not possible when riding, to get best range, you need to achieve a mounted antenna on your bike that is tuned antenna system. In this way you will get tremendous range you never thought possible. I'm still working on my antenna system. Battery life is yet to be assessed, I am fashioning a cig adapter attachment to my battery on the bike in case I need more talk time than these units provide. It would be nice if there were a battery condition indicator on the unit. With electronics design, believe these units can be half the size that it is now, but its already a manageable size for mounting on the bike. Hope this helps
If anyone is curious, I'm successfully using the SR10 with a Chinese ham handheld (a Quansheng). Most of the inexpensive Chinese ham handhelds (Quansheng, Wouxon, Baofeng, etc.) are Kenwood compatible pinouts so the Sena 2 pin Kenwood cable works fine.
Does the Sena have Rx and Tx Audio, or just Tx Audio? I drive an underground Loader and I need to plug it into a Motorola Radio, but I need to be able to Tx and Rx, is it capable?
TX and RX is processed in the SR10, you get full usage of your transceiver transmit and receive. The big button on the SR10 is transmit or you can use a remote key switch included. It is in receive mode when not transmitting. I like mine, its actually works seamless through my CARDO SCALA G10. There is a bit of a delay though when listening to FM radio in terms of going back to the FM radio after listening or talking on the radio- The intercom still thinks there is signal coming from the SR10 even after my midland cb squelches out. The SR10 audio takes priority over the FM radio so it cuts the FM radio out whenever the SR10 is driving signal to the SCALA G10. Hope this helps.
Hi John,
I believe all Rinos should have the same pin so the the Motorola single pin cable should work. Part Number: SC-A0112.
Dean
Thanks very much for the quick response Dean, much appreciated.
Why isn't there a cable to hook the SR10 to a Harley CB? There is one for the SM10, but that only allows you to listen to the CB from what I have read. and of course I would like to be able to talk and listen to the CB and use the SMH10 for music and intercom and bike to bike with my friends (some have Sena and some have just CB).
Looks like I'll have to make my own with the open end adapter SC-A0116. Or is this a red herring and it cant be done and that's why there isn't an connector for the two way comms with Harleys and Goldwing folks?
Tad frustrating to say the least.
Happy Camper...I used the Hirose open end adaptor wire for my Wing. I tapped into the output connection for the headset connector. Don't know how the Harleys are setup, but it should be doable. You could make up an adaptor cord by using the open end Hirose and soldering the wires together with a cutoff headset cord and just plug into your headset outlet plug. Just depends on how handy you are at finding all the connectors. Sometimes I end up with 10 feet of wires just to do a simple hook up, but that's just me.
I have just purchased a SR10 and have had no luck finding a 5-watt GMRS radio that is compatible. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Hi Mike I am not a radio buff and do not know a lot about GMRS (I am in Europe). Why won't radios such as Wouxan or Baofeng do the trick? They generally use a Motorola connector and are frequency programmable often through the computer using free software. I think that even my Mitex General could be programmed for the GMRS frequency, and it works very well with an external antennae, I have used it up to four miles range. "www.eham.net" is a great place to get reviews on the options that are out there
I have developed a harness that connects the SR10 to a GW's audio system, allowing you to hear in your BT headset every sound made by the GW, such as AM, FM, CD, CB, Weather, and Nav, plus (and here's the big deal) you can transmit on the GW's CB using the GW's normal CB controls. For more details see "Reply #41" on the "Transmit on CB using Sena Wireless Headset" thread on the Electronic Motorcycle Devices area of the GL1800riders Forum. SeeDespite the thread's title, the harness will work with any BT headset that can pair with a SR10 (most can). Attached picture is prototype I have installed and tested on my GW. Works great. One compromise is that the link between the SR10 and your headset doesn't support stereo; so, all music is mono. Not a problem for me because I use my iPhone paired to the headset to listen to stereo music. Attached circuit diagram is for DIY'rs who have the tools and skills to build their own. Working with a certain company to produce it for the retail market. Will let you know who that is when they have product available in stock.
HD version in progress.
