Voice Echo Using Freewire on Goldwing with 20s on Intercom
We just purchased 2 Freewires to go with our 20s headsets for use on our 2008 Goldwing. They connected quickly and easily. The music sounds great, the cb works and the GPS instructions come through loud and clear as well. However the onboard intercom system is horrible. It is loud enough however both of us can hear our own voices echoing and slightly delayed in our helmets. Highly annoying, basically makes the intercom on the bike unusable. You cannot converse properly with the echo/delay. Paired units to the freewires first as phone one, then paired our phones as phone 2. Did not pair the units to each other (as you shouldn't have too, the Freewire is advertised as being able to use all the bike's features, including the intercom), checked the side tone setting-it is disabled. Emailed support 2 days ago, still no response. Is anyone else experiencing this? If so, did you ever get it fixed? Thanks.

This issue is still not resolved through Sena support. I have read numerous complaints online in the Harley forums regarding this issue but virtually nothing anywhere regarding the GoldWing. Is there anyone out there experiencing this? It can't be just me......

Yes, I have the same issue. Everything seems to work very well except the side-tone (echo) when using the intercom. This is a deal breaker I.M.H.O.

problem solved
I had a dual packet bought this are already interconnected so if you join the goldwing intercom Setup you have a double connection and give the echo
so with a duo packet you can not use the goldwing intercom
for a connection double tapping on one of the two S20 volume up and ok0 -
Hi Ludo,
I would agree except for the fact I did not have my dual pack paired to anything but their own respective Freewires, therefore only 1 connection for each headset, not 2. We did firmware updates and factory resets on both 20s units before we paired them to the Freewires. They were paired to nothing else, not a double connection in my case.
Also this copy and paste from Sena's website for the Freewire states:
" Use an additional FreeWire for your passenger to talk over the motorcycle’s internal intercom system – All with the wireless freedom you’ve been longing for."
Didn't work for me. If I paired them to each other, like you have, and turned the bike's intercom off the echo was gone but the volume and quality of music was way less, too quiet and lots of static.
I am glad you have found a work around, I refuse to accept it as Sena advertises that if you purchase an additional Freewire you can use the bike's intercom. That is what I want to do, what it is advertised to do, so I have great music and an intercom that does not echo.
Has anyone been able to use this set up as advertised?

Update: Sena replaced the 20S units under warranty. We still have the horrible echo when trying to used the bike's intercom feature with the new units. Turned it off and paired the headsets to each other. The echo is gone. The music quality however is now great-good volume and no static. Therefore there must have been a problem with the original headsets as the music quality was terrible once they were paired. So, my problem is 1/2 solved. The music is now good but still cannot use the bike's intercom feature. We used the Sena's intercom feature instead as Ludo does (couldn't do that before, our music quality was terrible) and are satisfied with that. If anyone ever figures this out and gets these to work as advertised please let me know. I suspect they never will but at this time can converse and have good music so am happy with the system.

No input from Sena as of yet . . . regarding the side-tone issue using Goldwing intercom through the "Freewire". I spent $700+ for 2 freewire units and 2 20s. just to find out can't use the bike's intercom. I have been patient waiting for a firmware fix . . . nothing as of yet. Still hopeful.

I just bought a 2015 Goldwing and installed 2 Freewire units for Goldwing and a dual pack of 20s communicators. I bought this set up because I wanted to have the functionality of the onboard I-COM system as well but the "echo" or delay in my ear while speaking is very distracting and makes for difficulty conversations with my passenger. Has anyone determined a fix for this?
I did a great deal of research to find the product that I wanted and SENA is proud to state the system works with the I-COM and it does very well except for the annoying "echo/delay" in voice communication. Many of us have great deal of money invested in SENA products (over $1200 for me) and I have a product that is simply unusable with my passenger. I should have went wired...

I have the same problem with mine this product does not perform like advertised and now I'm out $1200 as well, the store wont take them back.
The Echo makes this product unusable in intercom mode witch is what I bought it for, with no fix in site any one want to buy two 20s and two Free Wire?

Ann Arbor, MI; Allow me to join the 'echo/feedback' frustration gang... 2008 Goldwing, new SENA purchases in July '18 of 2 10S dual helmet sets (driver & passenger) and the Goldwing Freewire adapter... the echo/feedback makes it unusable. So disappointed.

I wonder if SENA is listening... Has anyone called them, I plan to this week and see if I can get this set up so it the system is usable.

OK, just thought I would pipe in. 2012 HD Ultra, I get the echo/sidetone delay both intercom and CB. It's not really a problem for intercom as we just use the Sena Intercom but I bought these to be able to use the CB in addition to Sena. I'm experimenting with my 30Ks. They seem to be a bit better but don't sync as reliably with the Freewire.

I have a 2013 goldwung and last year purchased the free wire and the sena momentum helmets. I as well get the echo but my feedback is a very high pitch squeal. Something from sena would be nice about this.

I gave up. Sena said they would progress it to their engineers. Didn’t hear anything and ended up buying the new J&M Bluetooth system. So far so good, but haven’t been able to test it yet with a passenger.
