there is something weird going on atm with the Impulse and its software versions... at work atm and no access to my research on the details of the update process and how the app communicates with the wifi part. (i found a way to takeover that part via a stupid exploit and pulled the binaries off it to dig deeper into it, they changed something on that recently and that detail matters on why the update could fail since the newer version looks at a different location for the indexes and there is a weid difference)

will post the magic for the information needed once i can access my notes

    Hi Tom,

Thank you very much for your answer, so as I understand it, the cause of the problem is not the helm itself but on some (software) adjustment or error made by Sena itself recently.

connect with your PC to the WiFi provided by the Impulse and then load following addresses and then post the output. that tells me the relevant versions (and yes, the app uses those addresses, too for its purpose). Then i can crossreference into my archives and maybe reproduce the bug.

got to crossreference my research again to see if it is using the old or the new indexes (my impulse is "freezed" onto the old wifi-part firmware since i prevent it from reaching the real sena servers, useful for messing around with stuff).

No weird shenanigans with the versions at your case since you are on wifi-part 1.0. Trying to get a way to extract the logfile atm but that fails in a weird way on automating it

    Got it. https://github.com/masterX244/SenaLogGrabber

download this as zip and then run the batch file. YOu need to enter the IP address that the impulse uses while in your home network. Do that right after a failed install attempt.

I just got enough time for digging deeper on stuff like that (thats why i use that unorthodox method of debugging (by abusing a bug for extracting logs), no way for me to use the internal methods that Sena got.

IT guy with too much time at the evenings (especially in winter)

I already have my second helmet and it has the same problem again. Sena support has also only written that I should have the helmet replaced. Somehow also no solution if you do not get the problem under control ;(

    Hi Tom,

this is what I get :

    SUCCESS|1.0||5

    SUCCESS|ap_util.capp|1.0rc1sena_service.capp|1.0rc1query.cgi|1.0rc1

    ERROR|No device is connected

did not try your fix yet as I'm not sure it applies to me.

    tks

Gilles Coccoli Your case is weird since it shows "no device connected"... from logic that should be impossible since the cradle and the main chipset are on the same logic board..... And my tool linked is not a fix, its a quick and dirty thing to grab a hidden internal logfile from the wifi part.

Hi Tom, tks for your prompt return.
Connected to the Sena WIFI I consistently get no connection Error. I guess it is not a good news if it is an internal problem.
    Will see what Sena says.
    Tks

is there any news,?  I have the same problem:

    SUCCESS|1.0|1.2|5

    SUCCESS|1.0rc1ap_util.capp|1.0rc1sena_service.capp|1.0rc1query.cgi|1.0rc1

    SUCCESS|1.0.3|1.2.1|3148|nl

I tried the wget downgrade to 1.1.0  because now I have 1.0.3.   so I want to upgrade to 1.2 if possible..

wifi connection is fine, but update 0% ,part 0 out of 6

Nice helment great sound pitty you need a engineering computer degree, even then update is difficult. Come on Sena if you sell a product at least make sure it is updated before you sell this helment. Or make it simple to do for non computer people. Very poor.
