How can you tell which version of firmware and soft ware is on your Sena communicater?

I want to buy one, but want the latest version.  Found them from $249 to $399 on line.  Is it difficult to upgrade?  I don't know how you would do it....

  Firmware update is simple using firmware update program which can be downloaded from our software download page. Program will help check for latest firmware update and guide you through firmware update process.

  It comes up usb cannot be found.
