Plastic "star" in new SMH10-A0304 clamp kit?

I just got a new SMH10-A0304 clamp kit. It has a piece that was not in my original kit. It's about the size of a dime and looks sort of like a knob cover or something. Round, with 4 fingers.

 

What is it and what's it for?

  Hi Stuartv,

  This is a mic cover to cover the small hole at the front side of the mic. In case your helmet is an open face without windshield, you can use this mic cover to reduce the wind noise. Thanks.
