Handlebar remote connect/disconnect/connect/disconnect/connect/disconnect . . . . .
The title pretty much summarises the situation; Every so often the 20s will will announce that the remote has disconnected from whichever of my 20s units it is paired with and if I fiddle with the buttons it will announce 'connect' and the immediately 'disconnect' - and if I mess continuously with the buttons it will repeatedly announce that is has connected, then disconnected, usually (but not always) ending up disconnected. And while it is in this mode the 20s doesn't act on the button presses.
If I power the remote off and on (always fun to do while in motion) it 'usually' resolves the problem, but not always. If I power off the 20s it likewise may or may not resolve the problem.
But then as I ride along and after a while I get the 'disconnected' message.
I've done the factory reset and reconfigure thing and the 20s modules are fully up to date (1.6.3).
Am I alone in this? Has anybody got a solution? I would have sent it down with one defective module I had, but I suppose it can wait and I can send it down after the bikes go away for the season, but if I'm doing something wrong I'd like to know.
Thanks

If you only did a Factory Reset on the Handlebar Remote then do a Factory Reset on both the 20S and the Handlebar Remote then pair them together again along with any other Bluetooth device you had paired to it beforehand.

I have the same problem with my 10U. Already did the reset but still the same? Did you get it fixed?

Nope.
I've updated to the very latest 20S firmware as of last week and rode on Saturday - it disconnected twice.
Now, I own five of the 20S modules and it does this with all of them (music sharing similarly sucks badly no matter what combination of my modules I use). It does seem to get worse when temperatures are colder, suggesting a hardware issue of some sort.
Since Sena support in this matter is less than effective I have purchased a second remote that my son can use when this is all done. I will charge it up; pair it and see if the problem persists.
If it does, then about the only thing it will prove is that the software is bad or the hardware design sucks.
Not sure what my next step will be, but keep an eye on this thread for the results. If the weather is reasonable there should be a follow-up within a few days.0 -
OK. Two days of riding later and I ca state with authority that there is a serious issue with the combination of Sena 20S and the Handlebar remote.
With my brand new remote on my bike off we rode and at the start, with each and every button push on the remote the 20S would simply shut down. Crashed. I powered it back up and it would do what was asked of it (except, of course for music sharing), but if I touched any of the buttons it would shut down without notice.
Several power cycles later I did get it to stay on. And with the hour 'remote control disconnected' was heard through my earphones. Pushing any button more often than not got me 'remote control connected' and instead of disconnecting immediately it seemed to remain connected for a while, but eventually would announce he disconnect yet again.
Reset all to factory. Reconfigured everything and headed out again today and while the 20s stayed on, the disconnects still occurred.0 -
And what did the store or SENA say? Do they help? Is you sena still in warranty?

I haven't phoned them yet this year - in the fall they wanted me to send them all of my hardware for replacement - but to be fair I thought it might have been something with the remote (which is why I bought a second one that my son can use when this is all resolved).
Testing required waiting until the snow melted (I suppose I could have simply walked around outdoors during the winter with my helmet on and the remote in hand testing, but what would the neighbours have thought?
I'll be calling in at some point this week or next.0
