FM radio option will be considered later for next generation model, and remote control idea is definitely under study, but it would be reflected on next generation model as well. Thanks for your feedback.

Could you also offer a piggyback FM tuner to add to the SMH10 as well?  All of the mp3 players that I've found with FM only work the FM if you use corded earphones as the antenna.

I would pay up to $75 for such a unit, but I cannot justify paying $200 or more for the new model just to get FM.

@David, thank you for your feedback as well. We will study the feasibility and get back later when ready.

Re handlebar remote.  You might try just tipping your head.  For me the Jog dial is prominent enough that a small raise of my shoulder and tip of my head is all I need to switch between intercom and music.

Considering how small an FM tuner can be it could either piggy back onto the set screws on the SMH clamp and plug in the aux jack or better yet be a blue tooth device you mount tucked away on the bike or in your pocket.  Seek button style tuning could be accomplished by the jog dial in the same manner as advancing to the next track when coupled to a MP3 player.   Honestly if sonomeone just came out with an app for an android phone that used its built in fm tuner and sent audio via bluetooth with a headphone extension wire plugged in for an antenna it would do the trick.   For now just use pandora or similar.

I just bought a SMH10B.  Should have waited for this next generation model...

Once approach might be a FM-Dongle-module. Audio out to MP3 jack on Bluetooth unit.  2-3 input for audio (MP3 or Ipod)  and hardwired Control-Head... Bluetooth connectivity might not be needed because prompts can be streamed via audio out. It could be a separate product and not lock into one product.

thanks for all your comments, I bought the smh5 added large speakers + wired mic and intalled it on my caberg hyper-x helmet. The sound level and quality are very good, the best I had so far. I connected it to my samsung galaxy s and I hear radio through internet connection, it works well.

I think adding remote control to put on the left handlebar would make it perfect.

Any updates on adding FM technology to the SMH-10?  There is now a SMH5 with FM.  I am ready to buy, but would like to hold out for the SMH-10 with FM versus having to buy the SMH-5 and then also buy the upgraded speakers.  That option basically makes it the same price as buying and SMH-10, but without the increases range of the SMH-10.

I would like to add after using SMH-5 with large speakers, I tried the small speaker.  The sound doesn't have the volume of large speakers, but Its loud enough and much more detailed.

    music sound much more better.

Maybe the large speakers more fit to the SMH-10, I guess.

Using the FM radio on my mobile phone requires plugging in the wired headset (headset functions as an antenna), this automatically disables the bluetooth function on the phone. Would you be able to pair up with a separate FM-radio with bluetooth transmitter so that you could also have access to FM radio from the SMH10? I have searched the web but haven't found such an FM radio with BT transmitter. There are plenty of BT transmitters to route mp3 players etc but without built-in radios. Does anyone have a suggestion? Of course I can imagine that you'll need to fix the radio station manually as the jog-dial will not be able to control station tuning.

You could plug a BT transmitter into your phone and see if the is good enough for the antenna, and then use the BT output from the transmitter.  Also, some of the Sansa mp3 players from Sandisk have FM built in, so you could go that route.

I'm also waiting to buy until the SMH-10 has a radio function. It's weird they first bring the smaller brother with this function.

I need the functions of the SMH-10, but also want a FM for commuting..

Is this version coming this year? If it comes very soon, it's worth the wait.. otherwise i'm still stuck with my problem and have to look for some other device..

Waiting as well, my dad has a Scala I have the SENA SMH10 and love it, he needs FM to communicate with his GPS, so I will have to go over the the Scala side if the SENA10FM is not released before long. I wish that your two companies would work on an intercom standard.

I don't really care anything about FM radio, my Harley has that.  But having a handlebar control would be super!  A handlebar volume control and button to push to begin transmit would be cool.  I'm hoping that the new 20S has ambient noise AVC.  It's really  hard to turn down the volume while holding in the clutch.

I don't think they have any plans to add an FM radio to the 10.  But the new 20S looks really cool.  I'll retire my 10R and get a 20S when they come out.
