Well, lots of Goldwings going off the road for winter in the next month or two, i'm sure "like me" many wingers would love to integrate this into their bikes during the quiet winter months. Once all my winger friends and my GW chapter see's how simple this is compared to the cumbersome competition, they'll be sold. Please have plenty of stock, once this comes to market..... I'd love to see this under the tree... Hint hint....

with so much redundancy between the SR10 and the SM10 why not combine the SR10 into the SM10? Add the 2-way and PTT conections the SM10 and the radio interface would be similar to a cable connected phone. The radio usually can be keyed thru the cable from the SM10 to the radio.

Sena, I know what feasibility studies entail. How many bikes are out there that will use this adapter and how many will buy it. I have a suggestion that may make this a simple modification. Since everything seems to go directly to the radio on a gl1500 is it possible to make the unit sense the PTT signal with a simple connection (splice). Keeping our hands on the bike controls is extremely important. The feasibility of this device is that it will work with just about any CB on any model and make. Use the bike's PTT button.

To date the only way I have found to talk on the CB is to use J&M hand mike set up. You can hear the CB fine with the SMH10, just can't talk through it. Come on Sena!!! 0 -
My dreams of self gifting it to myself this xmas are fading!!! I love being cord free, and look forward to integrating my non Bluetooth radar detector and gps and my Gl1800's CB radio, into the system.

I have interfaced my SR10 to my 03 goldwing allowing me to used onboard CB as well as music but only in mono,, although that sounds good to my 61yo ears.. I use the factory PTT for CB and wired PTT to sena for keying my ham walkie.. The audio and mic has to be ground loop isolated.. I have not tried with goldwing intercom as yet.. very seldom have anyone on bike with me.. I will post drawing of cable when I can make one pretty enough.. So far I have no troubles.. I did have to open the channel by software for maximun time 60.. It works best this way for me.. not everyone will like it.. Also if I key cb with bike PTT and sr10 ptt together I get a loud tone during transmission.. not sure what this is.. still checking.. I use seperate PTT for cb and ham to keep simple for me.. can only talk on 1 radio at time.. Joe kb4uw

I see here and on a few forums that there are a individuals out there trying to make this work as it should; at least one using SM10 and SR10 in combination. I still wish Sena would find a way to combine the dual stereo functionality of the SM10 with the cb/radio functionality of the SR10 into a new product. I think it's clear to a lot of touring bike owners that there is a market.

The attached diagram is what I have to interface SR10 to my Goldwing audio/CB.. I do have to keep channel open either by timer in SR10 0r by taps on SR10 PTT button.. audio is always present as long as channel is open so I can use bike factory PTT to key the radio.. I can get music, weather radio, cd music from cd player through this circuit as well. I have another setup to use when I need my ham walkie as well the CB.. I still have glitches with it though. So far I have good reports on tramsmitted audio on CB.. Joe

Well, imagine my surprise!!! I started this thread well over a year ago and come back to visit it only to find Sena has it flagged as "Done"????? I certainly haven't seen a Goldwing unit even after many requests from many Wingers from across our land! I did however stumble across this in an email announcing a new thinner headset, “One of the most important things we do here at Sena is to listen to our customers,” said Tae Kim, President and CEO of Sena Technologies, Inc.......... Sadly months ago I was forced to go to a wired Edset 3G which I must say does have great bass response and good volume as well, but...... I WANT MY WIRELESS GOLDWING FULL FEATURE SYSTEM!!!!!!! 0 -

He is finishing up a product that will connect into the GW harness and tie the SM10 to the and SR10 into the GW CB and stereo system.
The complete system will sit inside the GW trunk.
Pete promised the driver's SMH10 will have full access to the CB, and the factory push to talk. via the SR10, and both the driver and passenger SMH10s will have full stereo from the SM10.
Pete has finished the pro-types and is expecting to sell the connection this month.

Rick pretty bad when we've asked Sena for a year or more to supply us with this adapation. Its too bad they can't see the sales potential for the big bike Harley, Goldwing & Victory Baggers. I'll take a look at Pete's site, its just seems like such a shame to mix & match (IE jury rig) a system together.....

If I have to buy another unit I would prefer to buy a new SENA system that DOES what we want it to do! I cannot speak for Sena, but to be fair, their business model appears to focus on Bike Neutral BT communication solutions. And in that space, they appear to do very well. My wife and I are pleased with their products and support.
All I would ask is that they support entrepreneurs, such as Pete, who want to expand and enhance the functionally of the Sena products, thereby increasing the market for the standard Sena product offerings.
If Sena wanted to expand their products to include plug and play solutions for GWs, Harleys and BMWs, I would expect their ROI would be decent, but perhaps not as good as their current model.
Now if they would only update their software to allow us to listen to the stereo music via the SM10 AND allow the Sena to Sean BT intercom to just mute the music, and the GPS feed, when the intercom become active, without dropping and then reconnecting to the A2DP feed, I would call the SM10 almost perfect!

Well......I managed to build the cable and it works. What worries me is it was fairly simple. Definition of simple....start by spending lots of money. : ( For me the spending of the money would have happened anyway. I am a Ham Radio operator and wanted the SR10 to use with my portable Yaesu VX7R with external antenna that I use to access local repeaters during commute but a lot of Goldwing riders use CB The SM10 is a given (especially with the latest upgrade making the volume so much better) because it plays stereo music. The SM10 and the SR10 work in conjunction with each other. The SR10 is used ONLY for the mic and the SM10 handles ALL sound ( CB, GPS and stereo ). Now for the real test....tomorrow nights ride with the GWRRA. We will see how it holds out for the night. I will let you know tomorrow. Keiller 0 -
Ok so that went very well. The sm10 and sr10 combo worked just fine.
Pro : Voice came through clear to other riders the only neg was to do with CB basics like riding takes you through noisy zones so we all tend to crank the squelch up too high.
Pro: Nice to reap all the benefits of a blue tooth headset (not tied to the bike, cell phone connected, etc.)
Con: Expensive (at least $400 in addition to the headsets)
Con.: Found myself constantly checking to ensure the PTT was locked open on the SR10 (acute paranoia) and it somehow dropped out in the last few minutes of a 4 hour ride (very good as it stayed solid all night). It would be nice if that was a switch and not a program option so I can put it in the trunk beside the SM10, "set it and forget it". If it continues to last for really long times then I will put it in the trunk anyway as it was most likely something I did to knock it off PTT lock.

In Sept '12 I inquired about a combined SM10/SR10. Still waiting for the feasabily study. The only new product in the area is an SR10i. But I understand the business logic. Make money. As a Goldwing rider if I want an SR10 I probably want an SM10 also. But I have to find a place to put and power two devices not a single "SMR10". For Harley Touring and Goldwings a single unit with custom cables would be great. SENA, BikeMP3, J&M or someone is going to come out with the right product and it will sell. Someone going to make a BT Dongle with a BT-PTT for my HT and I'm going to buy it.

John I'm with you on that one except I am an impatient geek who just had to have it now. That is why I basically created my own SRM10. I am just finishing the patch cable that connects the built-in passenger cable to the "SMR10" in the trunk with the help of a local supplier. Should be all done and ridin' tommorrow. Keiller 0 -
Keiller, Will your cable work with just the SR10? When you think about how much all the manufacturers of BT charge you'd think they were selling a Honda OEM CB. You know that $100 CB that they get $600 for. Take BikeMP3, you pay Honda's price for a little more function. Just because we buy a Goldwing doesn't mean we have gold pooring out our pockets. Enough gripping. Enjoy the ride, personally I'm headed for Americade in June.

I have been holding out cause what I learned was by mistake during a tired time after a shot of cc and coke. Works like a charm but I am talking directly to Sena before I risk giving out info that could cost someone their electronics Sena or Goldwing. Oooops! John I should have answered your question better. Yes it does work th SR10 works stand alone (on my 2007 Goldwing with GPS) and well BUT you would have to mount the PTT that comes with it on your bars and accept the fact that it will give you the bike sounds such as CB (of course), GPS and music in MONO. The left or right is your choice. I have been getting the full gambit using both in conjunction with each other but had to shove my hand deeper in pocket. Hope this helps Keiller 0 -

The inability to connect my headset to my Harley factory radio is the only reason I haven't bought Sena or any other Bluetooth headset for the past few years. Kept thinking someone would come out with one. How hard could it be? Apparently harder than this 35 year Amateur Extra ham radio thinks. Oh well. Spoiled Biker has come up with one that I guess I'll buy instead of the SR-10. Hate to not be all Sena, but it's apparently not a priority with them. Money burning a hole in my pocket. I've talked to dozens of other Harley riders with the same thoughts. Here's a unit on the market. Talk to Rod at Spoiled Biker. Yo Sena, No, this issue is NOT done.
The issue is being able to connect to the Harley or Goldwing audio system, including the ability to talk (transmit) on the CB radio by talking into the SMH10's mic.
Don't worry though, I found a solution. Used a SMH10 as an adapter. Hardwired the SMH10's audio out to my Goldwing's mic in circuit directly (without a pad). Hardwired my Goldwing's audio out circuit through a U pad to the SMH10's mic in circuit. The SMH adapter lives in the left fairing storage box. Works great! Can TRANSMIT and receive on the CB radio using my SMH10 headset; no cables between me and the bike. Can listen to AM/FM radio. Can listen to Nav instructions. Can talk to the passenger on their SMH10. Can even pair up with a cell phone.
Sena: Will give you the details, but you gotta ask nice, and then make a production unit for the masses.
