Ditching the speakers and plugging the speaker jack hole

I prefer the Etymotic in ear speakers for higher speeds and longer trips so I have removed my speakers and fashioned a little blanking plate to cover the plug hole they went into.  I pushed an o-ring into the plug hole beneath the plate to make it a little water resistant.  I may seal it over with some RTV but that's probably overkill since the plug is on the inside of the unit almost under my helmet.  I attached a picture of the finished product  to this post.

Thinking about it a little more I probably could have just jammed a little plug of rubber into the hole and dispensed with the o-ring, screw, and plate.

  An undeserved compliment for sure, but thank you.  Turns out a piece of tape over the hole works as well if not better.  Just take the clamp off and tape the hole over.

  Bill, I'm curious if you're experiencing any static or electrical noise through your headphones in this configuration.

  Yes, when the headset is in ambient mode (mute) I hear a buzzing in one earpiece more than the other.  I have tried three high quality earpieces and the all have it, some less than others but always there.   Its less noticeable when music is playing.  It reminds me of sounds I had in other Bluetooth devices, static and an occasional rhythmic wooshing sound.  Might be endemic to Bluetooth.  One curious thing is that if you move or tug on the wires and plug you can change the static a little.

  I also noticed that when in ambient mode the entire cradle piece becomes like a speaker and transmits any touching or tapping on it.  Weird.

  Mine did come with this plate. I'm not very pleased with Sena at this point.
