New 2nd A2DP for 2nd phone
Sena announced a new feature on December 29, 2015, 2:36 PM:
We were able to add a second A2DP profile to the 20S through the v1.6 firmware update. If you pair a device using Mobile Phone pairing then it will use HFP and A2DP and if you pair a second device using Second Mobile Phone Pairing then it will also use HFP and A2DP.
This is great news. The new manual states that the audio will overlay with Intercom (not blank it out because of a higher-priority). This has been what we wanted since the first 20S units were shipped. Last night, my friend and I sat for almost 2 hours in the living room with helmets ON, iPhones and Zumos in our laps. Here are our experiences:
1. When the Zumo pairing to the Sena 2nd phone port is attempted "as a phone" (in the Zumo pairing option screen), it tries to use pass key 1,2,3,4. The manual states that it's looking for pass ken 0,0,0,0. I cannot find any place to change the pass code to be accepted, either on the Zumo device or the Sena device. So pairing as a phone from the Zumo was impossible. Still searching on the Zumo forums to see if the pass key can be changed to 0,0,0,0 to be compatible with the Zumo. This was never a problem when pairing the Zumo as a phone to the Sena first phone port.
2. When the Zumo is paired to the Sena 2nd phone port as an "Audio Device" (the other option in the Zumo pairing screen), it works. No pass key needed. HOWEVER, the audio is not in stereo. It's raspy, loud mono. Sounds bad.
3. When the Zumo is paired to the Sena as a GPS device using the "Audio Device" option in the Zumo pairing screeb, the audio is indeed in glorious stereo. HUH?
4. When the Zumo Lady speaks while the connected to the Sena as a GPS device as in #3 above, the Zumo routing and beeps/alerts take priority over intercom. Intercom gets totally blanked out for 5 to 8 seconds each time.
And while we were at it, we tested other functions that's we'll be using continuously while riding in a group:
1. When in group intercom, user cannot initiate a phone call by pushing the phone button. The phone button seems to do nothing at all. In fact, no one in the group can initiate a phone call while the group intercom is active. The group intercom must be terminated before anyone can make a call.
2. When in group intercom, no one could leave the group by using the double-tap and saying "group intercom". I don't know of any other way for a person to leave the group. Is there one? Since initiating a phone call doesn't work when in group intercom, how does one leave the group to initiate a call? The only way we could do it last night was for the group originator to terminate the entire group. Only then could someone initiate a phone call from the Sena.
3. When in group intercom, it was possible to answer a phone call from an external person. The phone button did indeed cause the Sena to answer a phone call. The phone button does NOTHING except when used to answer an incoming phone call while in group intercom.
This are our observations. I hope other Sena power users can test these conditions and either prove or disprove our findings.

did you "delete all pairings" from the cfg menu before each pairing test? That would be important since the sena could remember the zumo, and I know for a fact that the zumo remembers the sena even if you remove it from the zumo's device list. I mean, the zumo adds the sena back and conects without intervention! It might be having pairing conflicts which results in odd situation (like having a2dp while doing sena's "GPS pairing"... as you mentioned in the other thread on http://support.sena.com/entries/49944180-Priorities ).

Sena, please tell us if the firmware 1.6 is supposed to accept A2DP on the GPS pairing.

I made one more test and paired the zumo as a 2nd phone (section 5.2) first. This got the 2nd a2dp slot to work as I would expect. However, Immediately after, I paired the zumo as a GPS (section 5.4.1) and to my surprise, the audio wasn't in mono anymore! The zumo must have remembered the a2dp hookup that the sena didn't flush out.
Note: before all that, a pure GPS pairing (without prior 2nd mobile phone pairing) would play in mono but would not allow me to control play/pause/prev/next. Now I get to play/pause/next but NOT control to previous track, which is quite annoying... The AVRCP profile must be broken... It's also noticeably more sluggish to operate, like 0.5 to 1 second late on the command.

When I pair my Zumo 665 to the 2nd phone, it's ALWAYS mono. I've done it at least a dozen times and got mono each time. I only get stereo when the Zumo is paired as a GPS. I haven't tried any of the music controls from the Sena. You see, I rarely listen to my MP3 music and prefer XM radio from the Zumo, instead. So actually, I've never tried music controls from the Sena.

I do pair my phone to gps, and yes I can receive and make calls.
I just don't know yet if the gps will interrupt the intercom...

An individual can leave the Group Intercom by using the "End Intercom" voice command. This will break the Group Intercom up depending on the individual's position in the intercom chain. If this happens then the creator of the group can terminate the Group Intercom, among the connected headsets, by giving the voice command "group intercom" or holding down the Ambient Mode button for 1 second. Then the creator can reconnect everyone back together by re-initiating the Group Intercom.
Sena, please tell us if the firmware 1.6 is supposed to accept A2DP on the GPS pairing.
GPS Pairing is suppose to accept A2DP in v1.6.

Thank you, Sena. We were using the wrong command to end intercom. Duh! Maybe that's why it didn't work for us; ya think? Thanks for straightening me out.
It's odd that my 20S accepts A2DP for GPS pairing (and I get stereo music); but I don't get stereo music connected in 2nd phone. (Just the opposite of the other poster here). Sena Support told me that I should always do a Reset after downloading new firmware so that it fully uses that new firmware. I haven't done a Reset yet, but will and then test for Stereo in both the Phone 2 and GPS connection.
Thanks again.

sena, please can you confirm if this gps pairing will have the gps instructions+beeps interrupt the intercom?

Sena, ...and please can you confirm that the A2DP-protocol in GPS-pairing is tested with a Garmin Zumo 590 ? Because I'm afraid it doesn't work.
When I pair the Sumo 590 as a GPS, it now shows a media-tickbox besides the telephone/GPS tickbox, which is encouraging. In earlier firmware-versions of the 20S there was no media-tickbox.
However, I can't actually tick the box. It unticks itself immediately.
(20S and Zumo have latest firmware)

thank you, Dan .
internet has done something strange, i'd posted only once my post but it seems to be placed 3 times ;-)
up till now, i cant get configuration 4 working
SENA is also trying to find a solution

@Dan: No it will not interrupt the intercom. GPS Pairing will allow you to hear the instructions from the GPS while talking over the intercom.
@Marc: If you can listen to the music from your Zumo 590 in stereo and not in mono then it is working normally.
@Inspector069: We have deleted the duplicate posts for you. As for Configuration #4, place the 20S into into Mobile Phone pairing mode to pair it to your mobile phone and place the 20S into Second Mobile Phone Pairing for pairing it to your GPS.

with the firmware 1.6, I do get gps and music in stereo at lower priority than intercom, and mixed.
However I STIIL cannot go to previous track, and in one case, I had neither prevoious nor next controls.

@Sena: if i do his, then i won't be able to see who's calling. this is what config #4 should provide but up till now not working.
i know that there might be a difference between the software of the Zumo 660 and the BMW Navigator IV ( maybe also between the 660 and the HD version). with a 660 it seems to work but not with a Nav IV. in order to solve this problem, i've made allready in the past some requests and mail towards you and also contacted the official dealer in Belgium.
so, in a nutshell what i want to achieve :
cellphone connected to Nav IV to see caller ID and answer the phone
GPS instructions on 20S without being interrupted by intercom conversation ( instructions on the background)
this is what configuration #4 does => see your own posting: http://support.sena.com/entries/62724154-Mobile-Phone-and-GPS-Pairing-Configuration-4
my momentarily set up , to make this happen: intercom between 20S (pilot) and SMH10 (passenger) ; GPS via GPS pairing to 20S; cellphone via mobil phone pairing to 20S and fixed in front of me on the bike to see who's calling.
it works but this is not my favorited solution.
maybe an update that can make it works with the NAV IV please

@Inspector069: We apologize as we were referring to Case #4 in the User's Guide and didn't see the link that you posted about the GPS Pairing configuration. With that said, we have notified our developers about the issue and we will try to fix this issue through a possible firmware update in the future.

hello Sena. I've just noticed that you have made a new update 1.6.2.
is this the requested change of configuration #4 so that my problem will be solved now?
