    Hello!

    Unfortunately, firmware updates are carried out at the request of HJC and any SENA partner. We don't roll out updates until we're instructed to do so on their behalf.

    I also just checked, and 1.0 is indeed the most recent update still available since 2022.

    I ask HJC for a update an the answer is that they are not in charge. Here is what they wrote:

    Hey Marc,

    I am sorry for the misunderstanding but we do not control when there is an update on these units.

    SENA will be in charge of when there will be new versions or updates.

    Please check this website to see if there are any updates for your headset.

    Unfortunately, if HJC hasn't submitted any request for firmware updates then we do not produce any..as the device made for HJC are made with their specific requirements.

    Since yesterday I have been in contact with Sena Europa. Will see what they have to say, looks like that the customer stay in the rain. I think that is a weird customer relationship that is going on here.

    I am a bit disappointed. Thought HJC would also be a partner for updates. We paid enough money. Other OEM companies also receive updates for their customers.

    Its a disgrace that HJC arent arranging to keep their units up to date with firmware updates.

    I just spent the best part of over £700 for my RPHA 91 and 50B intercom only to find that there has never been any updates for the last 2 years.

    Talk about pass the book, wish I'd have stayed with my NEXX helmet now at least the X-Com 2 got updates.

    After the Ping - Pong between HJC and Sena this is the answer I got from Sena to my question: "What bothers me is that the SMART HJC 50B firmware is stuck at version 1.0 since 2 years. Does this mean that not a single issue was detected requiring a firmware update, or does it simply mean that there is no support whatsoever for the firmware?"

    Had a good run with my 50b today
    We were running Bluetooth universal intercom as my mate has a cardo.
    The multi tasking audio doesn't work as I expected with the option turned off I get intercom ok but no GPS directions in the speakers.
    I assumed by turning it on i would get GPS directions in the background and still be able to talk but it totally cuts off the intercom until the directions have finished been announced.
    Ok on a long road but useless anywhere with lots of turns needed, as you lose the ability to speak to the other rider.
    So to say it's without fault is bit of a cop out.

    Dean Jewson: this seems to be typical for Sena intercoms. My old Sena 20S had exactly the same problem: GPS directions are a complete nuisance when using the intercom, (and the other intercom partner is not aware that he was interruped by the GPS directions). So me and my friends turned the GPS audio off. That way we could at least talk to each other without being interrupted.

    I compared the HJC 50B intercom with the Sena 50R and Sena 50S while listening to music. Software version 2.4. The difference is huge. Sena plays brilliantly, HJC 50B compares very poorly to it.

    I strongly believe that this situation could lead to a class-action lawsuit. Spending over $300 on a product is a significant investment. If I had known about the low volume of this product and the lack of firmware support, I would have chosen either an external Sena product or a CARDO. The only reason I didn't return the product immediately was that I hoped that some of its issues would be fixed through a firmware update. I will not be recommending Sena or HJC to my fellow riders.

    Piss poor support
    Sena support their headsets brilliantly which is why I went for another sena based unit.

    HJC are ruining any reputation they currently have.

    Though my previous was Nexx (sena based)
    It worked brilliant after an update

    I contacted HJC and also asked for a firmware update, stating that the 50B is really lagging behind, while the 50R has already been updated several times and that it therefore works much better.

    Of course I was immediately referred to SENA. When I indicated in my response that I had purchased an HJC branded product and that I therefore expected a solution from them, there was no response. Nice. Customers are simply ignored when things get too complicated.

    I think my 50B is a big disappointment. Intercom not working properly. Radio reception is very poor, voice commands rarely work. And for this money. Premium price for a beta half-finished product it seems. 

    The one major advantage of this unit is that it fits nicely in my helmet. It certainly looks the part, but still.

    Stumbled on this topic. Same question here....no updates on the 50B jet? bought and HJC helmet with 50B and a Spider ST1 for my wifge. Will be  my last SENA if this is they support the give

    Been a while so I thought I'd have a look and see if this thread has any new news about 50b firmware updates.

    Sadly not

    The real disappointment is that HJC no longer show the 50b on their website, so looks like they've binned anything to do with the unit now.

    They are now showing 10b, 20b and 10a

    which are also Sena based units.

    Last time I buy HJC thats for sure !!

    To be fair I think Sena are also passing the buck, supplying units but not providing the support.

    Probably go Cardo next time too !

    Same here. Switched from cardo because I had a new helmet. As soon as I need an new helmet i will dump the units and helmet. Never sena of hjc again due the lack of customers support

    I also filed a complaint and referred them to this forum as well. The shop where I bought my set (Louis.de) also filed their complaint based on mine.

    Today I got this exact email from HJC support as well. I think they got the message,

    Well, we will see.

    I also wrote to them on this e-mail, I have a problem with the connection via Bluetooth, after connecting two of the same HJC 50b intercoms, the conversation is interrupted, when I connect via mesh, everything works OK.
    It's a disaster for the company that it doesn't support a device that isn't cheap. And I also bought two pieces. Double problem. I hope they fix it eventually.

    As said, they have confirmed a firmware update is in development now. When released, I think we should all reset and update our units and see what happens.

    As I understand the SENA 50R's flaws are for the most part resolved. I expect this could also be possible for the 50b if they really make all these changes.

    I hope they really put effort in the new firmware instead of just sticking a higher versionnumber on the same crappy firmware and call it a day.

    Wow, just got my 50B yesterday, getting things setup, thought it odd there was no update to a 2 year old 1.0 firmware, and googled this thread up. Looks like, hopefully, I got here just in time, hoping the firmware update is a good one, and doesn't take too long...

    "Soon" as in "we are making this email so we don't have to refund you" soon...

    The fact that this thread has so many replies, and multiple resellers had to complain, just shows how bad Sena Support is.
