Thanks Alan for your help. I would expect a newer firmware will bring a fix for this voice recognition software. I'm going to talk with Sena folks soon, as they will be present at the Bol d'Or race event next week. In case I get some useful information, I will post it here.

Apologies for typos in the above. I’m mobile and the forum only allows re-editing of the first chunk of a post on my phone for some reason

I can remember when Sena support was good now it seems like it is just a brick wall. They have updated the software on the SRL but I don't know what they have fixed.

I will try the headset again today. I can't believe that a company would put out a product that can't communicate with there own products but this is the second model that they have done this with.

The Schuberth SC1 was the same when it was released.

This is a company that is releasing products before they are ready and then working on the next model.

The problem is that many of us are using there older products on our bikes to get rid of the cords. This company needs to wake up and start testing there products better before they are released.

I am glad I am not the only one but sad that this has happened

SENA  really need to get a grip and recall these headsets and replace them with ones that work

I honestly think the problem lies with their software  but as they dont reply to e mails messinger or even on here  means that there is a problem and they wont admit it

I also believe the problem is with software and not the hardware.

My replaced unit works fine (first one didn't as stated in a previous post on this thread).  At the time I thought Sena got things sorted and would ship replacement units to others in the same situation as me but from reading here that is far from the case.

I feel that I somehow lucked with the unit I received but given the problems that still exist I am in bit of a conundrum.  My firmware version is 1.03 and I have not/will not update to the most recent versions (I think 1.04 & 1.05) out of fear this may render my unit to a non-operative state.

The reason this is a disaster from a business model standpoint is the fact that this unit is specifically made for the Shoei Neo-2 helmet and together they are a significant investment.  I hope everyone gets their situations sorted and I am willing to join any campaign to let Sena know that they have completely dropped the ball on their product quality and customer service.

I am sure Shoei regrets this alliance but as far as I can tell they have remained silent.   The helmet is nice (it does seem warmer/hotter than my Arai) but there is really no other communication option besides the SRL.

This was my first foray into a motorcycle communication system and it has been an eye opener.

Boo I agree with you I wanted a fully integrated headset with helmet

This cost a lot of money !!!!!

I have no problems with the Shoei neotec helmet only the sena intercom

I also dont want to be taking the helmet apart several times

Have not seen or heard anything from shoei

Sena seems to have buried there heads in the sand

Maybe contacting Shoei will light a fire under Sena's R&D department and finally get our problems solved.

Was at the French Bol d'Or endurance race, last week-end. Visited both Sena and Shoei exhibit. Met with helpful technical guys, and both confirmed that it's a voice recognition problem. A new firmware will solve it, and also, localized version will be provided (French in my case). The guys gave a try in front of me, on my helmet, pronouncing something like : "What can I say".

And my helmet start listing all possible commands. Both the Sena and then, the Shoei guy perform that, and the result was positive.

So, while waiting a more performant voice recognition software, will try to use different english accent until I get understood. Could be boring.

I hear what you are saying and it is great that you got yours working

I have been trying to get some acknowledgement that there was a fault

gremlin in their firmware since april  and after the third headset didnt do as

    was advertised

I requested a refund and the intercom is now on its way back to sena and I

will hopefully get my money back

I spoke to shoei and they just said it was SENA problem

Did they give you any idea of when this software will be fixed as the

warrenty may expire before it gets sorted

Try resetting the SRL headset to factory settings. You can find instructions on how to accomplish autistic test this in the user handbook. Often, connectivity and recognition problems can be fixed with a reset.
