Sena 10c Pro - "Failed to update firmware. SD card not recognized" SOLUTION
I just spend 4 hours trying to update my new Sena 10c Pro and finally solved the issue. I wanted to share this in case anyone else has this problem.
When downloading the Sena Utility software I noticed the program would not connect to the server to automatically download the newest firmware. When manually downloading and installing it, the update would fail at 28% and throw an error saying "Failed to update firmware. SD card not recognized". I was using a Samsung EVO 64GB class10/U3 SD card.
THE SOLUTION:
My desktop PC was too new. It only had USB 3 ports and modern hardware.
I first formatted the SD card while it was inside the 10c Pro. The way to do this is:
1) Have headphones connected
2) Turn on 10c Pro
3) Click camera button once (big button on the top) Then click again and hold for 8 seconds until you hear it say "Camera Setup"
4) Rotate the jog wheel COUNTER-clockwise one click until it says "Format SD Card"
5) Click the phone button (button on the side) to initiate the format.
NEXT:
Once the SD Card is formatted, find a laptop/PC that has USB 2.0 ports. Install the Sena Update software to that computer. Now connect the Sena 10c Pro to one of the USB ports in that computer and follow the process in the software instructions.
Everything finally worked after formatting the card and running the update on an OLDER computer with USB 2.0 ports.

I just wanted to add the actual error was "Failed to update firmware. Check you SD Card"

I just bought a 10C Pro today and had to update the software. No doubt I encountered issues like USB ports not being recognised etc.
This is to add on to Jon's findings in case some may be on a Mac platform as myself.
Eventually, I did manage to get it all sorted and should not have been an issue from the start if I had read the instructions from the site properly. The only difference was that the microSD card needs to be formatted in the unit.
The camera must not be connected to the computer. In my case, I am using a MacBook Pro with USB3 ports.
I went the conventional way by switching on the unit and depressing the camera key for 8 seconds to get to the voice menu to format the SD card. Turn the jog dial counter-clockwise to get to it and then press the phone button once.
Come out of it and switch the entire unit off.
Connect the unit to the computer with the cables provided. Start the Sena Bluetooth Device Manager app.
DO NOT power up the 10C Pro but instead, as per instructions press the phone button for at least 5 seconds and then on the app press Next. The system will recognise the device and run through the firmware update. You will be prompted to press the phone buttons a few times with an interactive icon until it gets to 100%.
I hope this helps, there is a NEED to format your microSD card and once done your USB 3 ports will be recognised by following instructions to press the phone button for at least seconds but do not power up the unit.
If you do find another way or if this does not work for you let us know, please.

I have struggled for ages to get my 10C Pro firmware updated. The problem would seem to be my computer is too up to date. I have both USB 2.0 and 3.0 and, despite numerous internet claims that the Sena Bluetooth manager will only work on USB 2.0, it seems that it is even more picky than that. I used an old computer with old USB 2.0 ports and it worked first time perfectly. With my new machine it refused to work throwing up error messages that didnt really make sense "Not the recognised device", "Unable to get status [1][0]" and so on. Even the Sena support technicians werent any help. I got lots of suggestions, but no real help. My advise to anyone strugling with a firmware upgrade to a Sena 10C Pro using the Sena Bluteooth manager is to try to get an older version of the USB 2.0 ports. Then complain bitterly to Sena that they should do a bit more software testing, because quite obviously, they are not interested in correcting this problem. If it leads to lost sales in the future, and I am seriously thinking of alternatives, then maybe they'll do something!

Literally created an account to say thank you! Luckily my PC has 3.0 and 2.0 USB ports so all I had to do was reformat the SD card. Thank you!

3) Click camera button once (big button on the top) Then click again and hold for 8 seconds until you hear it say "Camera Setup"
it does not work on my sena 10c pro even afler both ways to reset.
camera is turning on and green light is blinking. when I press camera button for 8 seconds there is no reaction. As result I cant format SD card and cant upgrade firmware. Also wi-fi does not connects to camera through sena camera app but BT is ok. last year all connected and worked good.
my firmware is 2.2

Hello. And thank you so much for your help.
The problem is really annoying, like you have to be such a tech savvy to be able to update and use the communicator. Your step-by-step is GREAT.
THANK YOU>
