When will Sena update to work with IOS 13?
I just updated to IOS 13 and immediately have an issue. Is sena updating firmware of the app to work and when will this happen?

Hi Colin hall. Please perform a Factory Reset on your 20S. It is recommended to perform a Factory Reset on a headset after updating the firmware. If you need further assistance with your 20S, please contact our Customer Service department by visiting https://www.sena.com/support/submit-ticket to submit a ticket or clicking the "Submit a Request" link at the top of this page. Thanks.

Still an issue
I reset time factory settings, the device then plays music for 30 seconds before stopping.
on the Sena app, I can change the value of “Smart Volume Control” the sound comes back on for about 30 seconds and drops again, I change the value on “Smart Volume Control” again, I get music for 30 seconds and it drops again.

Hi Colin - Just wondering if when you updated your 20s to 2.0.1 did you also delete the device from your bluetooth list on your iPhone? I have found that the previous pairing from 2.0 on the phone will pair with your 2.0.1 headset but may not interact properly. If so I suggest you delete the 20s from your bluetooth device list on your phone then re-pair the 20s to the phone. It should then pair your headset and the phone should show the pairing as Sena 2.0.1. Worth a shot if you haven't done that

Yes I removed the sena from my list of Bluetooth devices and found the 2.0.1 version
thanks for the suggestion.
i have noticed that Apple has just released iOS 13.2.2 (iOS 13.2 is pretty flaky release and lots of web sires say don’t move from 12.

Personally I never update my iOS when a major version changes for several months after release. App developers are often not quick - Sena included, to get updates out right away and even Apple finds issues shortly after release. Unlike Sena, Apple will not let you go back to a previous version so essentially you are screwed until everyone else catches up. Had this happen with a banking app and several others I use a few years back. Eventually things do settle down and get back to normal but it certainly can be a PITA for awhile! Hopefully your music issue will resolve.

I still have an issue with the Sena dropping out after about 30 seconds.
My other blue tooth headphones don't have any issues.
I tested with my expensive Sony noise cancelling over ear headphones, and my cheap in ear headphone that I use at the gym.
Neither of these devices need an upgrade to their firmware when my iPhone has a software update, and have not been effected by the iOS upgrade.

It's a weird one. Suggest you borrow another iPhone from someone and pair it up to your 20s. At least then you can positively rule out the phone being an issue. Other devices you mentioned interface differently to some degree so it's kind of an apple/oranges thing. One you have isolated the problem to the Sena then open a ticket with customer service assuming you are still under warranty. Good luck

It's not the phone, it's not the app, it's not Siri, a phone reset doesn't help, a headset reset doesn't work. This is strictly an incompatibility between the SMH 10 and iOS 13, likely a security issue that requires a firmware update from Sean.
Please, people, stop suggesting sophomoric Best Buy Geek Squad "fixes" for things. Your suggestions are just as bad as telling someone with an error on their PC that they should "reboot the PC, that will fix it". Not a fix, it's a mask.
Sena simply needs to test this issue, identify the incompatibility, and fix it. Almost guaranteed it's not an Apple problem. If it was, they could report it to Apple upon identifying it with their own troubleshooting, and Apple would fix it if it didn't compromise the rest of the communication stack for Blue Tooth. Either way, at least people would know what the hell is going on.
If Sena doesn't want to do the most basic troubleshooting and customer management and, instead, continue to rely on forum "experts" who don't actually know how to troubleshoot software or communication protocols, then Sena should just step up and say "we know it's broken, we're not going to fix it, throw it away and buy from our competitors".

I've been having an issue recently with the 10C pro where hitting the siri button makes the siri trigger sound twice (one "start" sound right after the other), after which it completely ignores whatever I'm saying. Some random time afterwards, it plays the siri stop sound. This definitely started some time after updating to iOS 13, so hope they update the firmware to trigger Siri properly again!

So, When sena will support ios 13 for Harley OEM senas??

Since these issues have been reported from when IOS 13 was first released I don’t believe Sena is concerned with fixing the problems.
You can contact Vince at H-D Support and report your issues.1 (800) 258-24640 -
Good Morning everyone.
I have spent weeks and weeks getting more and more annoyed by the lack of service from Sena, and its in ability to admit 'we have a problem'
Since iOS 13 update to my iphone, my SMH10R has really been rendered useless in relation to the use of Siri (and in part - the microphone vox)
I have contacted Sena on three seperate occasions, and everytime they suggest the 'unpair, delete, reset, repair' - WELL SENA, IT DON'T WORK!!!!
There are enough avid bikers in this forum who have bought your products (i've had yours for over 10 years) who are passionate about biking and use their Sena helmet comms. LISTEN TO THEM...
There is clearly an issue from this update to the iOS and in particular the functionality of Siri with Sena. I note that many have discussed about the bluetooth being the issue but, I have been trying for months to find some resolve. So I have recently changed some settings on my iphone. What if I didn't use Siri for voice commands, but use the simple 'Voice Control'
So (and this has worked since the change, but who knows) for iOS users try this:
Settings>>
Accessibility>>
Home Button>>
In the second section titled 'PRESS AND HOLD TO SPEAK' change to
Classic Voice Control.
Now this will render your iphone back to classic voice control and not Siri, however it does mean that I CAN make phone calls (even though it pauses when processing my voice) I have found this better than having nothing at all.
So please note this means Siri is not in use. But for me, I am happier in the fact I can make an emergency call to someone from my helmet it I need to. Its not good enough however.....
So is this a bluetooth issue? - If Voice Control does work then surely not... right?!
Sena. Pull your finger out and stop passing the buck in relation to this issue. My last support chat guy suggested I speak to my cell phone operator to 'send me some software'???? What planet are you on?!
I would rather you admit that the SMH10R and all the other customers who are having similar issues now own an obsolete product. But to make insane suggestions is embarrassing and insulting to a committed customer base who have bought your products.
Deal with this matter before we all start leaving in droves.

Same here from Italy.
IOS13.3, iPhone X, Sena SMH5 (updated to last firmware 2.2.3)I can receive but I cannot make phone calls anymore....
Siri says “I’m on it.... working on it.... “ but after a few moment just silence ...
no way....

I have the 30K with the same problem. Since Sena was notified about these issues months ago I've concluded Sena doesn't care about fixing them. The one thing I can say is this is the first and last Sena product I will buy.

Enough of this thing. Can anyone recommend another model/brand that works with IOS 13? I'm looking for something like 20s

Given that Sena has essentially abandoned its customers and, yet, continues to sell these broken and unsupported products, I’m moving to Cardo Scala. I’m also going to buy a FreedConn. I have three helmets, so I’ll expand the one that works the best.
This may actually be a circumstance where an off brand is preferable (like FreedConn) simply because those manufacturers tend to not take a kitchen sink approach to feature sets which complicate on-going development.
Sena has roughly 15 products available for power sports, and roughly 5 of those aren’t working properly. That tells me everything I need to know about the company who is flooding the market with half baked products and very little support for customers who have been with them for years.

looks like the guys at sena don't even attempt a reply in this thread anymore...
I guess being called on your BS all the time has finally made them give up.
shame they didn't just admit that they are not working on a firmware upgrade, legacy device, tough luck.

Maybe try this - new article : https://www.ikream.com/how-to-fix-bluetooth-that-is-not-working-on-your-iphone-after-ios-13-update-34020

Thank you Ken,
I'v tried everything I've read in that article, except resetting my iPhone.
And I won't do it.
I'm in contact with Sena support but, until now, no solution is working

I just wanted to say thank you to Roberthp. You've done a great job describing the issue in detail and calling Sena out. I'm hoping they'll get their crap together and respond here saying they're going to work on it in the next couple of weeks. If they don't, I appreciate your recommendation for an alternative. I'm still fairly new to riding so I haven't tried anything other than the first SMH10 that I bought. I have thoroughly enjoyed it up until now but if this is the kind of support we can expect from Sena (I went through the same reset/repair runaround) then I see no reason to stick around and will be checking out a Free Com.

they have really dropped the ball on this. time to start posting disappointment in Sena on advrider.com, and all the other m/c message boards I guess....

What’s worse is they still sell these broken products directly and through all their channel partners. Additionally, they use the HIGHLY privacy violating cross site tracking cookies for visitors to this site, another reason to avoid them completely.
I’ll be sharing my experiences far and wide: revzilla, Amazon, advrider, stromtrooper, vog, motorcycle.com, and many others.
Let the exodus begin.

Agreed, I've updated my original Amazon review to warn any rider with an iPhone. The only reason I'm not switching immediately and hoping Sena responds soon is the FreeCom 4+ seems to be the SMH10 equivalent but costs $225 instead of $150.

For what it is worth, I too was having issues with my Sena 20S recognizing Siri on my iPhone 8 when I pressed the "phone" button on the Sena unit.
Although it worked in the past, I started noticing that pressing the button would trigger Siri for a second, but then quickly disconnect before listening for voice prompts. In other words, it tried connecting, but then just disconnected.
Although I upgraded the 20S to the latest firmware (v2.0.1), I still couldn't get it to work until I did the following:
1. Unpaired the 20S with my iPhone (Settings > Bluetooth > Sena 20S > Forget This Device).
2. Deleted the Sena App from my iPhone.
3. Powered off my iPhone.
4. Factory reset the 20S (hold the Phone button on the 20S in for 10+ seconds, then press the Jog wheel).
5. Turned on my iPhone.
6. Paired the 20S to my iPhone again (hold the Phone button on the 20S for 5 seconds, then go into Bluetooth on the iPhone and selected the Sena 20S again).
After doing that, I was able to get Siri to start responding again.
I then reinstalled the Sena Utility (optional).
Note: This was with a Sena 20S (v2.0.1), and an iPhone 8 (iOS 13.3). I also do not use (not enabled) "Listen for Hey Siri" on my phone for what it is worth.

Mark - Thank you for your information. I have the same setup you do - iphone 8 and 20s but I had not upgraded my OS because of people having connectivity issues with 13. I finally decided to take the jump today and used your instructions. Worked perfectly. Reinstalled app too - no problem!

I have the same problem with iphone 11 pro with ios 13 and smh5.
Pairing does not work. It’s really frustrating and makes my sena smh5 unusefull. I already installed the last firmware but it does not work. I regret my buying.0 -
So that we can identify the problem between our products and iOS 13 we recommend recording a video of the problem so that our developers can replicate it and work on a solution to fix it. Please submit a ticket to our Customer Service department here https://www.sena.com/support/submit-ticket and include the following information with your video so that our developers have as much information as possible.
iPhone model (iPhone 8, X, 11, etc.)
iOS version
Sena model (SMH10, 20S, etc.)
Firmware version on the Sena headset-1 -
I've submitted incident/request 336534 describing the issue and referencing this forum. I did not include a video because I don't know what the trigger is. As others have described, it seems to work for a few days after un-pairing/forgetting/rebooting.

If you agree, I'll give you a short update about my situation.
1. Last night I did a complete reset of my iPhone X and then I updated it to iOS13.3.1.
2. Factory reset of my SMH5 (updated to the last firmware 2.2.3 firmware).
3. New pairing
Unfortunately, my issue is still there. Actually, every time I press the red button I can hear the "Siri opening-sound", immediately followed by the "Siri closing-sound". In other words, Siri doesn't start at all.
I'm stuck in reverse. I can receive but I cannot make phone calls....
I've already opened two tickets (#333670 and #333822) in the past three weeks and 'Sena Support' tried to help me but with no success. I've tried all their solutions and all the tips I've found on the web about iOS bluetooth issues. No way.
I believe that Sena should contact Apple to resolve all the problems that we (customers) are facing since the last September.
It's obvious to me that there is something wrong between iOS13 and Sena bluetooth 3.0 devices. I'm pretty sure about that...Before iOS13 everything was working fine ...

Yep, Sena Support is useless. I opened an incident with a very detailed explanation (including, I've worked with Sena Support via chat before and they stated that there isn't a newer firmware for my device) and what I got back was "can you update the firmware on your device? To which I say as politely as possible "I already fucking said I've gone down that route" and they reply with "I understand but can you update your firmware". I'm done with Sena and will be purchasing a device from a different company as soon as this headset bothers me enough to spend a bunch of money.
