I did pay to ship my unit back to Sena. They sent me a new unit. Their response time was pretty quick from when they received my defective item to sending/delivering the replacement.

i just bought 2 devices $600 and same thing i have been working the issue for over a week now, they said they are exchanging the device but yet to hear anything back. i continue to reach out everyday and get told the same thing "RMA is working it". i also have a friend that bought one same time and he is having same problem. i asked sena what we are doing wrong and they blame it on over charging. its 2021 all new batteries or software prevent the overcharge. i think they need to update their software or install batteries that wont allow this. easy fix is re-write the software to stop charging when it gets to 100...

You have my sympathy. It's not a problem with over-charging. That's utter nonsense. We/you aren't doing anything wrong. I kept submitting requests and they finally responded by saying that the 50S in currently on backorder. I think it totally sucks that they sell a device for $300 and it doesn't work and then on top of that you have no idea when it will be replaced!

if they are on backorder are they going to offer a money back? from reading all the problems and dealing with the terrible customer service i will take my chances with the cardo. $600 on a product that dont work is sorta a big deal.

I can charge the 50r all night and it literally dies on me after 2 miles when I am riding to work in the morning. Ive tried emailing and they never respond

I believe enough of us to file a class action lawsuit, force Sena to either refund money, fix battery, or a full replacement. The first unit they wanted me to pay to ship it back to Sena. I told them hell no, it was only 2 weeks old at the time. They email me a return label, don't pay to ship your bad unit to Sena.

    Hello
I noticed today that my 50R was no longer charged properly. After several attempts I made a measurement of the charging current and found that the usb-C plug does not make proper contact. ( 0.2A only)
My solution quite violent to shake on all sides of the usb-C plug then wure with 0.9 A charged and after a few hours true the 50R to 100% charged. I suspect that in the usb-C socket the contact oxidizes and makes bad contact, by moving the plug the contact is cleaned again.

My 50S is about 1-2 months new. Perfect performance and long battery life. Just returned from a 5-day ride and during this time, I had an issue where the unit, while plugged into the charger, showed 99% charged on the phone app. When I unplugged the charger, the charge level immediately dropped to 69%.

I followed what another poster suggested. I switched the 50S to "FM" mode (radio) and let it run itself down to 0% while I slept. Next morning, charged it back up fully, and it appears to be working properly now! App shows battery level at 97% (down 3% from 1 hour of music,) whether plugged in or not. In essence, I no longer experience a different reading in charge level plugged vs. unplugged.) FWIW!

FYI, I did not factory reset or fault reset the unit. Just tried the above first. Will provide update if the problem comes back. Am on firmware v1.0.9.
