Kenwood KCA-HX7C (Sena 10c EVO) & KCA-HX5M (Sena 30k) Firmware
I have a quick question regarding Firmware/Software upgrades. I recently purchased a Kenwood KCA-HX7C (Sena 10c EVO) and a KCA-HX5M (Sena 30k). Unfortunately, the Firmware and Software versions from the Kenwood site are much older, compared to what's available from Sena. Is it possible to use the Sena 10c EVO and 30k updates with the Kenwood products? The oem.sena.com/kenwood site indicates that the units are equivalent in technology, features and functionality. If the Sena-Kenwood firmware updates are not compatible with each other, is it possible to please have your team post updated Firmware versions for these Kenwood units?

did some investigation in my firmware archive. the KCA-HX5M v1.0 was created between the 3.1 and 3.2 version of the 30K firmware and they internally got the same USB device ID.

Thanks Tom, it's good to know that the Kenwood Software isn't as old as the version number indicates. I sure wish the Sena software-firmware could be used on the Kenwood, seeing as they are basically identical units.

I have the Kenwood KCA-HX7C and want to purchase the HD Speakers, however because the firmware is not up to date it will not let me enable it via software. Having both systems caught up would be amazing! Anyway we can modify the updater or firmware file to spoof it into loading the Sena firmware?

I sent a support request to Kenwood this morning about a firmware update to allow the HD speakers to be enabled. I will post here if/when I get a response.
I recommend we all send separate inquiries to both Kenwood and Sena. If they see a spike in interest they may be willing to apply effort.

Excellent idea Oliver, I will do the same.

Thanks Charles. (or should I say cm2 you slickdealer you)
I'm posting in that thread for all to reach out to both for this.
When submitting to Sena I chose the 10C Evo as my product. Understandably the KCA-HX7C is not on their list.
For the others following this thread up vote Charles original request. More votes means more visibility.

My response. 90 days after the initial request...
Hello Oliver,
Per our Development Team.
Kenwood KCA-HX7C does not support HD Speaker Type B (SC-A0326) and there are currently no plans from Kenwood for this.
Is there anything else I can help you with?Thank you,
Jake

Sena is a joke.
I hope the site moderator is monitoring this thread. I hope potential customers thinking about the purchase of a Sena product considers this interaction with Sena support as an example of how Sena operates as a company.
If Sena is going to partner and support another company's product offering, Sena should at the very least provide adequate firmware to that product. It's unfortunate that Sena can't even make available an updated firmware for the KCA-HX7C considering it's mechanically the same as the 10C Evo. Sena may claim that the internal components are different but I highly doubt that's the case. The only difference that I can deduce is that the EPROM or PROM has different settings to brand lock the device. However, the internal hardware is likely the same.
Shame on Sena for falling short on this effort.

I have both Kenwood units and would love the ability to upgrade the firmware as well. I hope Sena will do the right thing and release firmware updates to these units.
