I'm having the EXACT same issue with a Garmin 665LM and the 1.7.5 firmware.  This is SENA's firmware screw up.  I did a factory reset on the 20S and also had to do one on the 665 to get it to delete the pairing.  In my case, I didn't get my ears blasted by GPS directions at max volume over and over again if I was in an intercom conversation with my wife on her 20S.  It's only when there is no intercom that the 20S makes my ears bleed.  It makes the 20S completely worthless for turn by turn spoken directions.  SENA needs to fix this garbage firmware.  I'm going to see if I can find an earlier firmware to install in the mean time.

I have the exact same problem.  I have an iPhone with the Scenic App that I use for voice guidance.  If I'm traveling alone, I can control the volume on my headset so it doesn't blast out of the helmet.  But if I'm paired with my riding buddy and just the volume so I can hear him speak, the GPS voice is SUPER LOUD and hurts.  So I turn the volume down so the GPS doesn't hurt my ears, but then I can't hear him.  Is there any way to control the volume separately?  I have turned the volume down on my phone, but that doesn't do anything. I'm running 1.7.5 firmware.  Please help!!  Thanks!

Nearly a year later and Sena still has not corrected their firmware.
