The Sena 20Scam says it has a range of 1.2 miles, however, this is a typo. The decimal is in the wrong place.
The range on the 20Scam is actually 0.12 miles if it's not raining and it's a good day.
False advertising!! Steer clear of the 20Scam, AKA the 20S for short.
Look, typos happen. The 20 s is a good unit and it generally works really well. Of course, Bluetooth communication is not going to work or over a distance of 1.2 miles. That is just not what Bluetooth does.
Then Sena should advertise that it can go 1.2 miles. Not everyone understands BT technology and they rely on the company to provide accurate details of how their product will perform. The 20s has a laundry list of issues and it's performance is no where near what they claim.
So if it's just not what bluetooth does, then you agree with me that it's false advertising. I'm glad we agree on that.

200-300 yards at best.....zero when line of sight is lost....
You're all putting the antenna up, right? I've experienced all these short range complaints, then I remembered to put the antenna up. Boom, suddenly I have all the range I could possibly need.
I can still talk to my buddy for a good 20 seconds when we split off. Figure that's 75mph, one of us going north, one going west. That's 0.02 miles per second, so we both make it 0.4 miles before comms shut off. Given the 90 degree split, that means we are.. what, around 0.6 miles apart? Half the advertised range with cars and buildings and shit in the way.
The antenna being up makes no difference to me. SENA are engaging in false and misleading advertisement and something should be done about it world wide. Their claims of range are outrageous.
Sounds like user error or you have a defective device. I'm voting on the former, but you should try to exchange it just in case it's the latter.
I can reliably reproduce high-range usage in the real world. You're not going to get a mile through dense woods or a skyscraper-filled city. The maximum ranges are "up to" ratings -- that's in a perfect environment. Low/no dust, sand, fog, and a clear line of sight. Start adding in cars, trees, buildings, and you'll get about a half mile of range just like I do.
NO, not user error. I purchased a 20S Dual pack. One unit for me and the other from a mate. In a clear line of sight we could only get 300 metres at best. Why is it that so many other users are experiencing the same issue in range?

Odd. I get three times your distance when going through buildings on my 20S.
It really, really sounds like the antenna isn't in the upright position, or the unit is defective.
