OK so this took me *ages* to figure out - I tried several different ways, once even got it to come up but the mic in the helmet wouldn't work but essentially this is how I sorted it piecing it together from multiple guides and just fiddling. The app is pretty ugly and the interface is difficult on some phones but you only need to use it once to set it...Oh and no you don't need a rooted phone

Start out with the Sena bluetooth headset OFF

Step 1: Goto Settings>Manage Apps and find 'Voice Dialer' - tap into it and select 'disable'
Step 2: Download the free app 'Bluetooth Launch' from the google play store.  As I said its pretty basic but it works and its free so don't complain.

Step 3: Open Bluetooth launch and select the option 'google search' and then the radial 'com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox.Voicesearchactivity'
Step 4: Open Google Now (voice search) normally - then tap menu>settings>Voice and tick the box that says 'bluetooth headset - records audio thu bluetooth headset if available'
Step 5: Turn on the Sena headset - tap the phone button - a prompt will come up on the screen asking you what action to take: select 'Voice dialer' and tap the box that says 'always'

That's it now you can ask your phone to switch to a different song when you want to or set a new location on the GPS

Phone is able to charge on ANY charger I've given it so far: usb/computer, Garmin chargers, and a slew of other 12v car adapters. The only problem is the Sena 12v car adapters. They only work on the SMH10s and NONE of my other devices like drive zone . I agree with your conclusion that they're putting out a very low amperage - just enough for the SMH10 and my other usb devices need more. Too bad they can't be used globally, like all the other adapters I've tried.
