SMH10 Manager Mac-compatibility
I just purchased a Sena SMH-10, but I am Mac-based and there is no SMH-10 Manager software compatible with a Mac. With the amount of Mac computers in the market nowadays, I'd suggest and request that this omission be corrected!! Please!! :) Is this already in the works??
Many thanks!

@ Mike: That's just one more reason to wait for a few versions to be created after the introduction of a new OS!! - gives everyone time to play catch-up!!! :) Hope that you get it sorted out soon. Based upon my own experiences, I have great respect for Sena and have found them to be exceptionally receptive and responsive. Just sayin'!!!

George, I think it's safe to say that reportable Mac software designers are on top of when new Mac OS are coming out. That's the main reason beta versions are available to developers before its released to the public. I can also say that every piece of Mac software I use (except this Manager) was tested and ready when 10.8 came out. If nothing else, companies that can't support the latest OS have (in the past) notified me to refrain from updating until they "finish" their updates. How long ago did 10.8 come out? Nobody at Sena updated and went "uh oh"? It's a follow through issue or a lack of communication issue. While your advise is...well...duh!!...it's far from helpful now. 0 -
@Mike: I just purchased a 3rd unit last Friday. I had previously updated my previous 2 units using Lion 10.7, but this was my first attempt at updating a unit using Mountain Lion 10.8.1. The unit was recognized and updated without issue. This was on a Macbook Pro 15" Ret. model. But it worked flawlessly. I assume you have updated to 10.8.1 already. Perhaps the issue is something other than 10.8? Or a combination of 10.8 with the particular hardware configuration that you have?

I am current on the OS. I'm a bit perplexed as I haven't done anything to the computers except update the OS since my last Sena updates. I will fiddle some more and experiment. Maybe it's my stuff and if it is, I whole heartedly apologize, especially to Sena. Upon any changes, I will post up. Thanks! 0 -
My problem is solved! So I tried to update my Sena SMH10 from 4.0 to 4.1.1 with MAC OSx Mountain Lion. and it failed after 5%. "Can't find the next bock" error. Sena tech email me to use Windows Manager V1. and the upgrade worked first time. Just so glad my device hasn't broken.
Thanks Sena for helping. Hope the Mac OSx problem get sorted soon.

Oh, to add to my error, my Sena SMH10 couldn't power on at all, tried factory reset everything. Only the red LED came up when plugged into USB, and I even put on charge for long time, blue led didn't come up at all. but then restoring the firmware from win7 with Windows manager v1 worked flawless.

Ruaan, where is V1? I don't see it anywhere on their site. And you say "windows manager V1". Forgive the question but which manager are you talking about? Windows or Mac V1?

Hi Mike, I previously tried with Mac, then it didn't want to power on. I then used Windows 7 32bit Manager
here is 64 bit if you have 64bit Win7

Just downloaded the latest version of Manager for Mac 1.7.1 on iMAC running OSx Mountain Lion 10.8.2.
Have usb keyboard and mouse with BT disabled.
Trying to connect to an SMH10B.
The Manager will not recognize the device.
I have opened a ticket with support.
Has anyone gotten this combination to work?

I was having all kind of problems. I would end up always using the windows version on my mac, running windows. I got so fed up with not being able to get my Mac version to work! Eventually I found out MY problem as well as one of Sena's (which they don't acknowledge after I told them about the problem).
If by chance you were at one point updating via windows on the Mac, you need to tell the mac to STOP allowing Windows to use the USB port for your SENA devices. Once that's done, every one of my headsets update without an issue through the MAC. I too disabled/turned of my BT first.
The problem I found that SENA won't acknowledge is trying to update my SPH10S (ski helmet headsets). This is where it MIGHT be similar to your problem. When trying to tell the manager I'm trying to update the SPH10S, it won' recognize it. Over and over, reboot after reboot....nothing.
By accident I chose the SMH10 instead (while the SPH10S) was plugged in. It worked! For both sets of SPH10S's I have.
Experimenting with things, while the SPH10 was plugged in, I selected every device on the manager. Only when I chose THE WRONG DEVICE did it see it and update it.
Go figure. It's a problem and am stumped why nothing is done about it. I know I couldn't have been the only person that came across this.
So to sum up: IF USING MAC RUNNING WINDOWS, AND HAVE UPDATED YOUR HEADSETS VIA THE WINDOWS MANAGER, STOP WINDOWS FROM HAVING POWER OF THE USB PORT FOR THE SENA PRODUCT AND THE MAC MANAGER WILL WORK.
IF YOUR DEVICE WON'T RECOGNIZE, TRY SELECTING ANOTHER DEVICE IN THE MANAGER. IT JUST MIGHT WORK :)

I've just updated my two SMH10B with firmware version 4.2 beta. I have a Mac running OSX 10.8.2, and SMH Bluetooth Device Manager 1.7.1. Bluetooth was switched off.
Apart from the somewhat arcane interface of the Manager, I managed to update the two devices without much problem. I inadvertently restored both SMH10s to firmware 4.1 before the update, but the update to 4.2 ran successfully.

trying to get my SMH10B to work with device manager 1.91. Disabled bluetooth on my pb running 10.8. Device is never found. Guess I need to try a Windows VM. I emailed support, but their email bounced.

Brian - Call their helpdesk. Updated mine last week using Mac with no problems. There are a number of things that could be happening with your attempt but I'm sure they can walk you through it. There also seems to be some problems with their website. 1-866-300-1235 or (408) 300-9797 is their number.

Why not to make a browser-based (activeX/Html5) manager/update utility, like Jawbone? Cross platform and nothing to install, 0
