Remove "Beeps"
PLEASE REMOVE THE EAR SPLITTING BEEPS AND VOICE PROMPTS!
Were you in pain from the ear drum splitting beeps experience?
I was lucky to already be at the side of the road when this happened, I was increasing the volume on my 20s, when thee Loudest BEEPs Blasted my ears. I nearly screamed out loud as it made me feel dizzy, almost sick.
I held my head with both hands for a few seconds and then had to sit down on the ground for a minute or two and removed my helmet in disbelief at what had just happened??
PLEASE REMOVE THE EAR SPLITTING BEEPS AND VOICE PROMPTS!
below are testimonials of others who've had similar experiences.
Yeah, seriously Sena. Fix this beep ASAP with a 1.1.2 patch. Just last week, I had the audio volume quite high to listen to a podcase and as I was getting off my bike I accidentally poked the Jog Dial instead of turning it down (I'm now trained to turn the volume down before doing anything) and just about got blown out of my helmet by the "BEEP... Intercom Failed!" message. $300 and I wanted to tear this thing off my helmet and throw it across the garage.
Fix it.
I gotta say... the Sena 20S is pretty damn clever at trying to kill me. I left work today, the sun was shining, the road was smooth and the tunes were cranked. Carefully now, turn the volume dial 4 times... not 5 because that's when the bad noises happen. Also careful to not poke the jog dial (INTERCOM FAILED!!!)
I had to laugh, and I did out loud in my helmet. You got me Sena 20S. You got me good. This is the most fun I can have while riding without putting a poisonous spider in my helmet.
Think I'm being dramatic? Try this.
****************DONT TRY THIS WHILE RIDING OR WITH HELMET ON***************
Helmet off, with Unit turned on, turn the Jog dial, about 5 full turns clock wise to get the MAX VOLUME BEEPS.
Have some one stand in the next room, door closed, and see if they can hear the beeps?
Then ask them to step down the hall, or out side and eventually a distance where they can't hear the beeps.
I'm sure test buddy will be at a shocking distance away. Likely more than 20ft. and they'll still be able to hear the beeps clearly.
If that's not enough do the same test with Voice prompts and text notifications

Co-signed. The low battery beeping is also excessively loud. That needs to be addressed too.

I totally agree, I also have three other friends with Sena 20s units who have the same complaint. I run a custom molded ear plug set-up and use my Sena daily during my commute to work, the volume of the "Beep" when interacting with the phone hands free function or changing to the next song while playing music is excessively loud, which requires removing one hand from the handle bars, turning the volume knob down then changing songs / performing action. It really is a safety concern as previously stated. Please remove the beep, or provide a feature to set the beep intensity / volume level.
Thanks for reading.

My 10Us are the exact same. I've wore it trying to set it up and just had to take it off. I got these today and the first thing I did was update firmware hoping that gave a new option to turn them off and found these posts. Please please either turn them way down or give us an option to disable the low battery and volume adjusting beeps. Pllleeeaaasseeee. It's honestly loud enough to cause physical damage to your eardrums. Thanks and hopefully you do this soon! Everything else is amazing so far and with that option/update it'll be damn near perfect to me, 0 -
New sena 10c. Love it! Does everything i want......except for the ear deafening beep for max volume! WE DONT NEED a max volume ear shattering BEEP!!! I know now that i must always set my phone to max volume in order to make it difficult to reach the max volume beep. But the risk is always there.....yout phone volume is down.....you put on your helmet and the srnc pairs with your phone....you ride away.....you start the music playing......its a bit quiet so you adjust the volume.......and bam!.....like a lightning bolt straight to the eardrum....and beyond! You cant think. Your attention to riding a motorcycle is momentarily gone.
If i use a pilot check list that ensuresall volumes r set correctly before each ride, i can likely avoid the deadly beep......but do i really have to do that? Come on sena....while im still a huge new fan!
Did i mention how great this device is? Beyond awesome.... with one flaw.0 -
Yea Mike, we gave up and returned both of our units and got another product.Their customer service us horrible and won't even address our acknowledge our issues. They lost $800 from me and I've stopped about 5 people this fall on getting one as well because of these reasons. The cycle shop in our town recommended ones that seem much better to us without the loud voice prompt, low battery beep and loud beep in between voume levels. They won't carry the Sena brand anymore as they kept getting returned and now solely push (x) product. Don't want to spam their board with others products so I'll leave it at that. They're are better options, just do some research and visit your local shop for demos. Hopefully my Skully helmet will get here before next summer and I won't ever have to worry about add on Bluetooth products ever again. 0 -
Thx Shawn. Im certainly not where you are yet but i understand the frustration after many months without a fix. Ill put in a few months and re assess.....
After all the comments ive read about wanting volumes increased im sure that sena is surprised that we would complain that something is to loud!0 -
I think I'm about there, please....
The initials of this product or maybe just the modle of it?
Please...0 -
Ok, I got it and I must say, it's certainly everything SENA is not.
It's going to be a considerable investment, but maybe if a number of riders and I, had a "packtalk" we could maybe get a discount on the price?
I may consider selling off the 4 SENA's I have, but considering many Riders here agree that the units are dangerous and that SEAN as a company doesn't appear to care, It's probably better to add them to the landfill.
Comments anyone?

WOW. there are posts all over the forum for this issue. Why has this not been solved?
DJPaul, I am guessing you have had no luck based on your recent post.http://support.sena.com/entries/54448250-Dangerously-painful-beep-issue?page=1#post_33660696
http://support.sena.com/entries/50690720-Volume-Level-adjustments-between-hello-Sena-and-stereo-A2DP-music-from-phone?page=1#post_33576013
http://support.sena.com/entries/48328264-Maximum-Volume?page=2All three of those threads PLUS this one are all dedicated to the same problem with sadly, not one solution.

I have also read it a few times but the ring volume of an incoming call is also "run off the road and end your life" loud as well.

Mbc2237 Hey Good Morning.
Yes, I, we the SENA community has had no luck with this issue.
I'm pretty sure the bottom line why SENA has not even so much as addressed the issue is simply, the sale of the 20s exceeds the returns.
No matter what the issue/s are or accumulate to as long as the units sell, it's not that they won't look at the issue, it that they can't even see it.
SENA is a much bigger company than just it's SENA product lines, I'm guessing but, not only is the motorcycle communications division a very small part of the conglomerate , (likely less than 1%) but the 20s is also likely an even smaller a % of sales...
That said, from my opinion, the only single thing that could possibly have this change even addressed, is a death or multiple deaths leading to class action suit.
As motorcyclist, even collectively, we're just insignificant.
The only way to protect yourself and loved ones, is to
A. Don't buy it.
B. if you already have. Simply return it.
C. Inform your family and friends of the dangers of the product and if you have time inform your local dealer as well.
Open dialog and debate may bring forth a change. But till then ... there's PACKTALK.

Lastly... There's a known programer/code writer on this forum even on this very thread, I'm not very smart with computers, code or programing stuff, but I've patishend him to re write the software or patch the problems with the 20's.
He didn't exactly say, no, he won't do it? But he's also not done or said much about it since...
I offered to pay/compensate him for this work and .... well, ... If you like, Mbc2237 please encourage him or, if you know someone who's able to do this, there's a lot of money to be made from this correction.
Think about it.

I can't believe there is not a fix for this. I'm just about to return this torture device.

U guys r right, all tones need to be turned off or down
it not only does it with the remote but every function
the beeps suck, i'd rather have no sounds
heres the note i sent the techs today 8/14/17
from the date of these posts i c i might have a
long wait... or maybe try a different company
.....................
I have a sena 20s i use in my shoei Neotech
i'm using the handlebar remote, the tones as i
hit volume up/down or change songs forewards/backwards
are too loud. Is there a way to turn down or OFF the tones
while using the handlebar remote ?I'm using very nice headsets from earinc.com
these are the set.............
https://earinc.com/product/iplugz-gen-ii/my helmet using these ear pieces is very quite,
and the tone the remote has is too loud expecially
on long rides,, its seems to get louder as the day
goes on, it's very annoying. Please tell me how to turn off the tones using the remote or
turn them down, please consider a future update to either
the remote (I dont know how to update the remote) or the
20s itself.....If the tone is turned off would be great as if something
is wrong with the unit it just wouldn't work,, no need
for a tone in my opinion,,,, or at least the option to
turn it down or Off completelythanks,
Jon Beck
