Which way does the microphone face?
I have both a 50S and a couple of SF-4 units which I use for my trike tour business. Does anyone know which direction does the fin on the microphone face? Towards the speakers lips or away from the speakers lips? Is it the same for both models, the 50S and the SF-4?
I've search the manuals for both models and I can't find any reference to the microphone direction. If it's in either of the manuals then please point me in the right direction. Otherwise sena it might be an idea to include it in your next manual revision don't you think?

If our microphone has a small tab on it, that faces away from your lips.

Hey Mohrceleste
That funny because the previous post from Sena Support (Official Comment) say the exact opposite. Should I believe them or you?

The microphone on both the Sena 50S and SF-4 units should face towards the speaker’s lips, as this positioning helps capture your voice clearly. If the microphone is facing away, the sound may be muffled, similar to how a poorly placed microphone on a fast food menu board can make it hard for customers to hear their order. Unfortunately, the manuals don’t explicitly mention this detail, so it might be worth suggesting to Sena that they include this information in future updates for clarity.

I just bought a set of dual 50s units and I installed the wired boom mics. When riding with Mesh the first time, my wife's voice was muffled and I could not understand her. When she opened her chin guard (modular helmets) I could understand her fine. I called Sena to find out which direction the mic should be facing, as it DOES NOT have the small tab on it. Just the same two arrows on both sides. They could not tell me this basic information without escalating it, making me send pictures of the serial numbers and waiting 24-48 hours for a response. That was yesterday, Friday, so I won't have an answer until next week. This is beyond ridiculous to have to do this for basic information. Front line support should know this stuff off the top of their head.
Yes, I did twist the microphones the other direction, which they seemed to be resistant too, so I think I should be able to mount them in their default position. Twisting the mics did not make a difference.
I believe the issue was with mesh intercom as we used bluetooth on the ride one direction and mesh on the way back. Other than background wind noise, the communication on bluetooth was clearer. We will go for a ride tomorrow, to test some of this to see if we can make it work better by playing with settings, etc.
We bought a set for our friends too (haven't received them yet) but I'm probably just going to return the $1,000 worth of headsets and go back to the 20s Evo models we have because other than recent battery life, they have been flawless.
