Right side helmet mount
Hi,
I'm looking for an intercom for mounting on the right side of my helmet. What is my best alternative?
I am a disabled rider. I'm missing my left arm from the albow and use a prosthesis. My current setup are a SRL-Mesh in a Shoei helmet with a RC4 mounted on the right handlebar. I also have a couple of 30K (1st gen) that i switch between other helmets. Since the 30K's starting to wear out, i'm now looking for a replacement for those. And I'm hoping for a right side mount :).
The setup with SRL and RC4 works great, but sometimes the remote and voice control won't work properly an i have to use the buttons on the helmet. Then i have to use my right hand to press buttons on the left side. I often have to turn my head to reach the buttons, and that doesn't feel safe while i'm driving.
I hope you could make an intercom in the future that can be mounted on both sides of the helmet. Perhaps an intercom with a jog dail in the middle with pluss and minus on either side and the other buttons on top of the unit? And a base where you can connect speakers/mic from either end, depending on which side of the helmet the mount is.
I would also like a charging option for the RC4. With my use, I drain the little button cell battery in under a month.

Thank you for reaching out to us and sharing your situation and detailed feedback. We appreciate the effort you’ve taken to explain your use case, and we’re here to help you find the best solution.
1. Right-Side Mount Intercom Options
Currently, most of our intercom systems are designed for left-side mounting due to industry standards, but we understand your unique requirements and the challenges they present. While we don’t have a dedicated right-side mount intercom at this time, here are some potential solutions:
A. Sena 50R or 50S with Handlebar Remote
- The Sena 50R features a sleek design with low-profile buttons that may be easier to reach with your right hand, as it lacks a jog dial.
- Alternatively, the Sena 50S offers a jog dial but could still work with an RC4 Handlebar Remote. The handlebar remote may help mitigate the need to access the helmet-mounted controls.
B. Alternative Mounting with 50R/50S
- With slight modifications or custom mounting brackets, the 50R or 50S could potentially be mounted on the right side of your helmet. You may need assistance with setup to ensure proper placement and functionality.
2. Feedback on Product Development
We truly value your suggestion for a fully ambidextrous intercom system, and I’ll ensure your feedback reaches our product development team. A modular base with interchangeable components for left or right mounting would be an excellent improvement for riders with unique needs like yours.
Your idea for a central jog dial, plus/minus buttons on either side, and top-mounted controls is innovative and aligns with our goal of making intercom systems as user-friendly as possible.
3. RC4 Battery Life and Charging
We understand your concerns about the RC4 remote’s battery life. While it currently uses a button-cell battery, I’ll pass along your request for a rechargeable version. In the meantime, you might consider carrying spare batteries or switching to a remote like the Sena RC3, which is USB rechargeable, though it has a different form factor.
