New SENA 50C - few questions regarding video & battery life.
I just went for my first ride with my Sena 50c - I noticed that while using the camera, the battery life drains IMMENSELY. Is there a way around this or no?
Secondly, I noticed that it takes videos in one minute intervals I think? Why does it do this? I would like just one video until I click the stop recording button. Then another video when I click start recording again. Is there a way to prevent this from recording a one minute video and restarting the camera?
Lastly, I noticed that for each video, it is taken twice. So for each one minute video - there is two of the same videos. Why is this? It is taking up unnecessary space. How can I prevent this from happening?
Thank you!

Hello Anthony,
It sounds like you're encountering a few issues with your Sena 50C during your ride. Let’s address each of your questions:
1. Battery Life Drain When Using the CameraBattery Drain Issue: Using the camera on the Sena 50C can cause the battery to drain quickly, especially when recording video for extended periods. The 50C is designed to provide high-quality video, and this can be power-intensive.
Solutions:
External Power Source: If you're planning on recording long videos, consider using an external power bank to keep the camera charged during your ride.
Battery Saving Mode: Some Sena devices have settings to reduce battery drain (e.g., reducing video resolution or turning off certain features like Wi-Fi), but the 50C doesn't offer a specific "battery saver" mode. Consider lowering the resolution (e.g., from 4K to 1080p) or reducing the frame rate if battery life is a concern.
Turn Off When Not in Use: To save power, make sure the camera is turned off when you're not actively recording.
2. One-Minute Video Intervals
Video Length Issue: The Sena 50C records videos in one-minute intervals by default, which is a feature built into the system to prevent long, unbroken video files from becoming too large and difficult to manage.Solution:
Unfortunately, there is no way to stop the one-minute interval recording entirely. However, the camera is designed to continue recording the next minute once the previous one ends, so if you’re recording, it will continue to capture until you manually stop the recording.
To record longer videos without interruptions, you will need to manually stop and start the recording by pressing the button to control the camera (this is a common limitation in action cameras for easier file management).
3. Duplicate Video Files
Duplicate Videos: If you're noticing that two identical videos are being saved, this is likely because the 50C is saving both an MP4 video file and a backup file (in case the video recording is interrupted or if there's a potential file corruption).Solution:
This feature is a safeguard built into the 50C and cannot be disabled. The system saves a backup file to ensure that even if there's an issue with the main file, the second video can serve as a backup.
If you do not need these duplicate files, you can delete them manually from the SD card or adjust your workflow to organize the files on your computer once you've finished the ride.
Summary of Recommendations:
To extend battery life while recording, reduce the video resolution or use an external power source.
The one-minute video interval cannot be fully disabled, but the camera will continue recording if you manually restart it after stopping.
The duplicate videos are created as a backup to ensure you don’t lose footage, and this cannot be turned off.Let me know if you need further assistance or clarification on any of these points!
