This happened to me and my girlfriend yesterday. If you have firmware 1.6 on your SRL3, you’ll have Mesh 3.0 enabled. This isn’t backwards compatible with Mesh 2.0. Toggle Mesh 3.0 off in the Sena app, and you should be all good.

I have no idea why Sena thought it was a good idea to automatically enable Mesh 3.0, without informing users in any way, when Mesh 3.0 is incompatible with existing protocols. This is one of the dumbest software decisions I’ve ever seen.

Thanks for your help Chris, I'll certainly give that a try.

Interestingly I received this reply from Sena. They replied overnight which is good!

    Hello,

    Good day!

Thank you for reaching out to SENA Technical Support. I will be assisting you further with your inquiry.

Can you please try to disable or turn off the MESH 3.0 on the 50S and on the SRL3.

You can disable the mesh 3.0 using the SENA motorcycle app.

And after turning off the mesh 3.0 try to pair the 50S and the SRL  3 again and let me know if everything will work out.

    Thank you and Best regards,
    Clint

They default to Mesh 3, they should just work on Mesh 3! I haven't had a chance to try mine and a mates on Mesh 2 like Sena says to do, and I hope it resolves the issue, but why should I even need to do this, they should work on mesh 3? All my mates are working on Mesh 3 fine. It doesn't make sense to me!

I'll report back once I have tested.

I agree Jon - why all other units im aware of work on 3.0 except for the slr3? I even tried switching back to 2.0 and my mate did the same - this sorta worked although my mate could hear me talk but i couldnt hear him and this is not convenient when i join a group on the road, those guys arent going to pull over just to reset there mesh and toggle back to 2.0 just because mine doesnt work, especially when 2.0 probably wont work either.

I cant believe i spent 600 on 50S and now another 600 on slr3 to work with gt 3 air and the bloody main function, mesh isnt compatiable with all other sena units. What a bloody joke - talk about trying there hardest to milk money. People will just stop using this brand if theyre going to only be compatiable with each individual model! Ive already got mates that have gone to cardo etc, sena need to fix this before everyone jumps ship!

I have the same issue as the others in this thread. updated SRL3 and 50S with Mesh 3.0 turned off and the 50S can hear the SRL3 but the SRL 3 can't hear (or very random inconsistent crackling) from the 50S. This is unbelievable. They only work in Bluetooth mode and on the SRL 3 sounds like the individual is down a hallway.

The problem with my SRL 3 is sorted. - After many many frustrating messages between Sena Global support and myself, it seemed like we were getting nowhere. They finally said they couldn't resolve it, and didn't know what the problem was so they gave me a number to take it back to the dealer to change it for a replacement. I removed it from the helmet and took it back to Moto Adelaide, the dealer from which I purchased it. It just so happened the Sena rep had visited the shop that day and spoke to the guys there about it. They said that if you update your firmware, which I naturally did when I purchased it, it will default to Mesh 3 by default, which apparently is a recent thing. To prove this the great guys at Moto Adelaide took a unit off the shelf and mine to test, turned them on and they didn't connect. Dennis from Moto Adelaide updated the firmware on the shop unit and bang, they connected on Mesh 3 straight away. Proving, the latest firmware pushes to Mesh 3, off-the-shelf units are Mesh 2, and the two are NOT compatible. I later had a message and even a personal call from Tracey at Sena Australia to explain the issue and resolution, great service Tracey, thank you.
So next step is in the app, there is a switch to turn off mesh 3, forcing it back to mesh 2 which you have to do if you have mates still on mesh 2, like I have. i turned off mesh 3 and it will connect to them. I've done this now and it works.
Tracey said Sena is rolling out firmware updates to all the late models which will update them all to Mesh 3 but they are aiming to have this all available by the end of Feb 25. BTW, 50S also has the update available. Then, when all your mates update their firmware, you can all switch to Mesh 3 which apparently is clearer, less battery drain and has a few other advantages. Worth doing apparently.
    I hope this helps.

    This is what Tracey said:

Please be advised there have been some changes with Mesh Intercom since the release of the 60S model (which Clive does not yet appear to be aware of).

With the release of the Sena’s new 60S model there is a new improved Mesh3.0 platform.

Sena is rolling out firmware updates for the existing mesh models (eg SRL3, SRL Mesh, 50S, 50R, etc etc) and the roll out of the new firmware is estimated to be completed by end of February for all of the Motorcycle headsets.

In the interim whilst some riders are on Mesh2.0 and some are on Mesh3.0 there is a toggle switch in the Sena Motorcycles app on the rider's phone where they can turn On/Off the Mesh.30 depending on who they are riding with on the day.

It's most likely that your headset is not faulty but that the rider(s) need to turn On/Off the Mesh3.0 switch.

I’ve attached a page below that shows riders how to turn it on/off.
