Compatibility
Hallo
I want to go for the new Shoei Neotec II together with Sena SRL.
It seems to be a perfect match.
But my wife has a Scala Rider Q1 and I do not know if they will connect or have the right compatibility.
Do you know?
Thank you in advance
Regards, Anders

You can connect through the universal intercom function of the Sena

is anyone aware if the new Sena Shoei Neotec II SRL will be compatible with Harley Davidsons Wireless syetem known as the WHIM Wireless Headset Integrated Module?
The Whim system requires Harleys own version of the Sena 20s Evo. Apparently the Harley version is made with some type of slight difference in software or hardware so only it will link up and work all the functions of the stereo system. Ive been told the standard 20s Evo will have limited functionality.
I know the Neotec II SRL is designed after the 20S and 20S evo systems, so i am wondering if it too will have limited function, or if there is some type of download that can correct any problems?

Hi Ken
Your response made me buy the SRL.
But, unfortunately, I found that it is not possible to connect the Scala Rider Q1 to the SRL.
Really annoying.0 -
Anders- Please read carefully the instructions for the SRL. Pg 33 Universal intercom setup which is unique to Sena products. It uses phone pairing which is universal to all bluetooth systems, unlike the intercom function. Every manufacturer has a different intercom connection protocol (that's to keep you from buying someone elses intercom system) . I've used it successfully with u-clear and Scala with my Sena.
For the Scala use the phone pairing or 2nd phone pairing once you have set the Sena in universal intercom pairing mode. Once paired, connecting and disconnecting the intercom with the Scala will be with the phone function, NOT intercom function.
Hope that helps! Ken

Hi Ken
First of all, thank you for your time.
I have now paired the 2 headsets the way you mentioned.
The question now is how to establish a contact so that you can talk together. You write "using the phone function", but how exactly or which buttons should be pressed? For a normal intercom communication, you press the enter button, but what do I do here.....
Thank you in advance! Anders

Ok, When you are paired using the universal intercom you can use the same button on the sena to connect or disconnect the intercom. On your Scala you use the button that connects and disconnects a phone call. Read through the manual carefully on your scala that talks about making or disconnecting a phone call and it should tell you which button works that function

Might not be clear enough. For normal and universal intercom with the Sena you use the same button to connect and disconnect to the Scala. For the person using the Scala it is the button used to make or disconnect a phone call.

Has been gone for some time, but has finally made it work. It's not that easy, but yes, it works fine.
Again, thanks for your help.0 -
Anders - I believe Sena has a video on how to use universal intercom on youtube in case you forget how to pair. You don't have to go through the re-pairing process everyt time as both units will remember the connection but if you add or remove another audio device you may find you have to do another pairing.

@sonic exe Sena devices that support the Universal Intercom Protocol (UCI) can establish a basic level of communication with non-Sena devices that also support UCI. However, the functionality and compatibility may be limited compared to using devices from the same brand.
