SRL2 using Google Assistant
-
As a follow on comment, I installed the latest version of software for the SRL2 and did a factory reset, unpaired and re-paired the phone and now it appears to work by pressing the centre button for 3 sec's until the second tone. This activates Google Assistant on my Galaxy S9+ and then the Hey Google voice commands seem to work. I still have to try it on the highway but it's a start.

Bless you David, saved me a lot of headache!

It works at highway speed really well. And with sidetone enabled from the App, you can hear the clarity and loudness of your voice which helps a lot.

I have tried this, but pressing the centre button for 3 sec's instead opens my music app deezer, not google assistant.
I wonder if there is any way to change this.
Can you help?

Michael Haider If you go in the music apps settings and tap on the "Set as default" section there you can tap on the "Clear defaults" button. Then the next time you hold down the Center Button for 3 seconds, your phone will prompt you with what action you want to take. Select "Google" and then tap "Always". Now, each time you hold down the Center Button for 3 seconds while in Standby Mode, the Google assistant should come up.

Hi, I have tried this, but on my Samsung, Bixby appears all the time, not Google Voice assistant. Any hint? On the phone itself, bixby is deactivated and never appears, only when pressing the middle button on the Sena for 3sec.

It may differ on the model of your Samsung phone but you can change the default digital assistant on a Galaxy S20 by following this method:
Open the Settings app > tap on Apps> tap on Choose default apps > tap on Digital assistance app > tap on Device assistant app > select Google
You can also search online for how to switch from Bixby to Google on your specific Samsung model. Then when you hold down the Center Button for 3 seconds the Google assistant should be activated.
