Sena S20 not starting or recognized for firmware update
Dear Sena Community,
My Sena 20S has recently stopped working properly. When I try to turn it on, the blue turns on shortly. Then it flashes once again and then I get 3 red light flashes. And not else happens.
When I do the same when connected to a usb charger + cable, the blue light indicating it's fully charged turns red again.
Tried connecting it to my MacBook Pro. But the Sena Bluetooth Device Manager, keeps saying: "Failed to recognize device. Cannot open USB[1][N]".
Tried the fault reset using a paperclip. But that doesn't seem to do anything. What else can I try?

Figured it out myself, I managed to do a firmware update with a different cable.
Edit: Correction, still can't get the s20 to startup despite the firmware update...

Mine worked fine last season. This season windows will not see the device plugged in to the USB port. Windows update I'm assuming broke something. Just a guess

Thanks for your feedback Todd. Fortunately I had a very old Windows laptop, where USB after replacing the cable, worked just fine.
Device can be firmware up or downgraded without problem. But the s20 simply doesnt boot up. Get either a few blue and or red blinks and then nothing. Device reset also doesn't do anything. And not able to factory reset, since you need to be able to get into the voice menu for that.
So im kinda out of options... :/ Such a shame, it worked fine few months ago and al of a sudden it just stopped working...

have you tried booting up with the 20s plugged in? May allow you to get to the resets. Use a USB charger as computer may not have enough power to completely charge the unit - esp old computers.

I have 2 identical 20S units and neither will start. I tried charging them but no go. I tried connecting to the firmware update program but they are not recognized. Any suggestions?

On a mac, power the 20S Evo on, then connect the USB to both the device and the mac. Launch the Sena Device Manager, then power the device off.

Thanks for the suggestion bobby scott, but the wholr problem is that my s20 wont power on Only blue (and red depending on firmware version) blink few times and nothing else happens. No voice, no menu, no nothing :/

I have had this happen with two units now. The battery had failed and needed replacing. Unfortunately this is not designed as a user-serviceable item so proceed at your own risk! The battery is cheap though and there are instructions on YouTube. I lost the LED cover on mine though so I'm on a hunt for that now, if anyone has a broken one they would let me have for spares?

Hi everyone, my Sena 20s has stopped working the same way.
When it starts, one blue flash and three red flashes appear.
I imagine it's the battery as said by Cath Humes.
Has anyone solved this problem?

@Marcelo, I totally forgot to reply. But problem was resolved few weeks ago after I replaced the battery. Was a 5min job and works perfect again. Look for youtube tutorial on replacing s20 battery and details on battery to purchase. Cheers and Goodluck

I have a Harley Davidson branded Sena 20s. Works fine, but I cannot get the boom audio to recognize the device and thus cannot update firmware.
