I recently bought a brand new SMH5-FM. All features seem to work, but there was a ton of interference coming through the speakers while using bluetooth. Buzzing, hissing, crackling.

I slightly mitigated this by updating the firmware (to v2.2.2 I think it was). The buzzing is now less obvious, but the hiss is constant and crackling occurs while switching functions and while the voice is speaking (for instance, changing radio station, there is a loud crackle during every syllable when it describes the frequency).

There is still a loud buzzing when I make a phone call over the bluetooth.

I've tried it with two bluetooth devices (both smartphones) and the problem occurs on both.

Incidentally, the headset I used before this cost me £28 off ebay and was perfectly silent in operation.

Do I have a defective unit, or is there a fix? Or is this normal and expected?
