#179620 Smh10 broken pins and 20s broken holster.

Awaiting your reply
I owned a pair of smh10 headsets. Used them without issue, for about a season but started to have issues the next year. In the course of normal use (just plugging it in and out),two pins broke. Since I rarely used the 2nd set, I swapped it on my helmet and figured I'd get the other one fixed. A week later, one of the pins in the second set broke. Needless to say I was frustrated, as I had a ride upcoming and wanted to use them both. But impatient as I am, I just chalked it up to something I did wrong so I went and bought a set of 20s for the trip. Now I've been using these for 2 years with no complaints. Until now. No pins in this set thank goodness, but the lock on the holster that the radio clips into is broken in one set, so again I'm without a pair. I'm sure I am outside the warranty timeframe, but I have to say - I'm not sure about ever trusting your products again. Simple design and build quality issues. Limited warranties. Your products aren't inexpensive either. I guess I expected better and now I suppose I'm in the market for an integrated helmet unless there is some avenue to fixing these units. Is there? Because I cannot find any When they work, they are great. I just wish it was for a longer period of time.

Hi Patrick,
Sorry to hear about the issues you're getting with your headset. However, we don't have repairs for the units just replacements, since your unit is already out of warranty as you mentioned in the email then yes we can no longer replaced it. Nonetheless, you're asking for an integrated helmet, let me get some further info about it from you to get a clear understanding about this, do you mean like a helmet that already has a built in speakers and mic on it ? If so, we do have Cavalry for that, you may check this link for further info about the unit https://www.sena.com/product/cavalry-helmet/ . Let us know for further query and we'll be happy to assist you more.
Thank you and God bless.

Hi, yes I am talking about a Bluetooth enabled helmet or even one of the new designs that companies are trying to come up with regarding integrated cameras for rear viewing etc. I'm a tech guy so if I can use technology to stay safe while riding, I'm interested. I know about your helmets, think you just have the half helmet currently - I wear a full face. I'm not sure why I opened a ticket...I guess I just wanted to see if there were repair options and vent my frustrations with the product quality. I don't know if my next investment will go with sena or not. I've wasted quite a bit of money on your tech that didn't last.

Unless there's some sort of beta tester program where I can try it out first, I don't see plunking down more of my hard earned cash for a product I have personally proven to not last very long. Honestly, I get that technology changes rapidly, but if sena can't produce a product to last 5 years if used in normal situations without abuse, why would I think this helmet would be any different? Is there any way to try it out?

if its the pins on the USB port you can take it to an electronics repair shop and they can solder on a new USB port for you on those SMH10's
or if you are handy enough you could buy them and solder them on yourself... pretty simple repair if its just pins in the USB ports.

Yeah , I looked at the DIY path, but they are the pins that connect the radio to the cradle on the helmet. And they are collapsible pins. They recess into the housing when connected to keep the continuity.
