Problem Intercom Pairing between 10C EVO and 20S EVO

Hello, I had a pair of 20S EVOs that worked fine, but one of them stopped being able to be charged, so I purchased a 10C EVO as a replacement for that one.  but I cannot get the 10C EVO and the 20S EVO to intercom pair.  I put them both into intercom pairing mode by holding the jog dial button for 5 sec.  they both blink red and say "intercom pairing."  the next step should be to tap the jog dial button on one of them to pair, but tapping the jog dial on either one does nothing.  they continue to blink red until they both time out waiting for the pairing.

I have mad sure I have the latest firmware installed on both devices.

any ideas how to resolve this?

  Try a fault reset on both units as well as a factory reset to clear all pairings.
