    Hello,

Thank you for reaching out. I understand that updating the SRL2 can be a bit confusing to some, so I’ll guide you through the normal process step by step that is outline via the Sena Device Manager upon start. Please note that the most recent firmware update is V1.0.9.

    1. Connecting the Device:
Ensure the device is powered off. Use the provided USB cable (or your own Power and Data Micro USB cable) to connect the device to your computer.

    2. Launching the Sena Device Manager:
Open the Sena Device Manager software. Once it’s open, click "Next" to proceed. The software will provide specific instructions for each device. Since you’re working with the SRL2, ensure it remains powered off during this step.

    3. Firmware Update Prompt:
The software will prompt you to update the device if an update is available. Select "Yes" to proceed, and the firmware (version V1.0.9) will begin to download.

    4. Potential Issues:

      • Firmware Fails to Download: If the firmware doesn’t download, this could be due to a server connection issue on our end, or a problem with your network or PC. In this case, you can try again later or submit a support ticket. We will provide you with the firmware for a manual update if necessary.
      • Device Not Recognized: If your device isn’t recognized, this could be related to security settings in your operating system. For example:
        • On Windows 10, you may need to disable the Device Driver Signature, which automatically re-enables after a restart.
        • On Windows 11, you might need to disable Core Integrity.
        • On Mac, there is a security device lock that needs to be disabled to allow the Sena Device Manager to run properly. You can do this by going to System Preferences > Security & Privacy, then allowing the software under the "General" tab. Not all computers have these features—it depends on your system's build and specifications.

The process is usually straightforward, but if device recognition issues occur, they could be due to various factors such as your OS security settings or the USB cable being used.

I apologize if this explanation is a bit technical, but I wanted to ensure you have all the necessary information to complete the update and how it works.

    Best regards,

@Scott: I came here just as full of bile and frustration as you, looking to vent - and almost did, after countless failures to do a simple firmware upgrade. But then it worked. The unit is ridiculously, outrageously sensitive to USB cable and ports. Quite why that is, one would need to ask the devs to understand, but it matters little - you will need a good cable and a good port, else you'll bang your head against the wall. It took me countless tries and combinations of USB cable and ports, until one, magically, finally worked, and all the steps Alex wrote about just went swooooosh and I was updated to 1.0.9. I have now marked that cable, and that port, and will never lose sight of them. Make sure the cable is not power-only, but capable of data transmission too. The port on the PC, no one knows how the unit decides which port is bad (despite it being absolutely OK for everything else, data or charging, anything you plug in except the SRL2), and which port is finally, miraculously, magically OK. Just...keep trying. It's a good unit, with terrible connectivity flaws, but it will eventually work. Hang in there. Ride safe, D

Just had the same issue while trying to update firmware from V1.0.2. Nearly gave up due to frustration however found this comment from Doru (thank you)  and also experimented with multiple combinations of ports and cables, and yes finally had a connection. Upgrade to 1.0.9 went smooth
