Problem with HJC 21B
I have an HJC helmet with an integrated 21B bluetooth module. I also have a Schuberth helmet with an integrated SC2 module.
When riding above about 70kph the HJC module and when communicating with my Schubert module, the voice breaks up really badly to the point where I cannot understand what is being said.
I have checked that both modules firmware are up to date and that all settings are correct.
I have an SMH10 module, purchased last year, and the HJC 21B module does the same with it. The SMH10 module and the Schuberth SC2 modules communicate clearly with each other.
Has anyone had a similar problem?
Cheers, Bruce

It seems like the issue might be related to the HJC 21B Bluetooth module, given that both the SMH10 and Schuberth SC2 communicate clearly with each other. Here's what could be happening:
-
Antenna or Signal Interference: The HJC 21B module might be experiencing interference at higher speeds, possibly due to wind noise or vibrations affecting the signal quality.
-
Wind Noise and Mic Sensitivity: At speeds above 70 kph, the microphone sensitivity or wind noise suppression of the 21B might not be as effective, leading to degraded communication. This could be different from how the SMH10 or SC2 handle wind noise.
-
Pairing or Codec Mismatch: The HJC 21B might have trouble with the specific codec or pairing protocol used with the Schuberth SC2, even if firmware is up to date. There might be some compatibility issues that aren't immediately obvious.
Possible solutions:
- Re-pair the devices: Try deleting all pairings from the 21B and SC2, then pair them again.
- Check mic placement: Ensure the microphone inside the HJC helmet is positioned optimally to reduce wind noise.
- Test with another HJC module: If possible, try another 21B module to see if the issue persists. This could help determine if it's a hardware issue.
- Check settings: Although you mentioned settings are correct, some Bluetooth intercoms have advanced noise cancellation or intercom-specific settings that may need to be tweaked.
Some riders with similar experiences have had success by using a mesh network communication instead of traditional Bluetooth, depending on what the module supports.
Let me know if you'd like more suggestions or specific troubleshooting steps!

It seems like you're experiencing issues with Bluetooth connectivity and voice quality between your HJC helmet with the 21B module and your Schuberth helmet with the SC2 module, particularly at higher speeds.
Possible Causes
-
Interference: Other electronic devices in the vicinity might be causing interference, affecting the Bluetooth signal.
-
Compatibility Issues: Although both modules are Bluetooth-enabled, there might be compatibility problems between the 21B and SC2 modules.
-
Signal Strength: The signal strength of the 21B module might be weaker than the SMH10 module, leading to dropped connections and poor voice quality.
-
Reset and Re-Pair: Try resetting both modules and re-pairing them to see if it resolves the issue.
-
Check for Firmware Updates: Ensure that both modules are running the latest firmware.
-
Adjust Settings: Verify that the settings on both modules are optimized for use at higher speeds.
Have you tried using the HJC 21B module with another Bluetooth device to see if the issue persists? Are there any other riders experiencing similar problems with these specific modules?0 -
