From reading other forum contributors, it does not seem possible to go back to an earlier firmware version. I have R1 EVO helmets and updated to 2.2 and no longer have access to lights. Sena is working on a resolution.

Same here. No Mesh, no lights. Support ticket submitted. Until they fix this it's just another brain bucket.

Rolf B., if you can update a riding partner's helmet to firmware 2.2, the mesh 3.0 will work the intercom.  At least that's my situation. But the partner's helmet will not work the lights or talk to other helmets on older firmware. Hope it gets workout soon.

JT..my wife’s helmet is too old (? model, has micro USB). Running 1.xx. My helmet will not mesh with the new R2 EVO. It used to before the update. Maybe Sena sending a subtle message to upgrade.

Had the same problem: update from 2.07 to 2.2 and only one helmet with the light problem.. and mesh still worked (but bad connection). Fortunately with the old

SenaBluetoothDeviceManagerForWindows it was possible to downgrade back to 2.07 -> now everything works properly (like before).

Wolfgang...SenaBluetoothDeviceManagerForWindows it was possible to downgrade back to 2.07. Trouble is I run MacOS on an M1 ARM. Really don't want to buy a Windows 11 for ARM key. Hope Sena fixes this soon.

as explained: at least on Windows the downgrade was possible... so Sena will hopefully fix the problem soon

Wolfgang...got Windows running on my Mac. Running Windows version of Sena device manager. Looks exactly like the Mac version. I do see how to install an earlier version of firmware. How do I do it?

I simply run the .exe mentioned above... then I was notified of the new version, I rejected this update... and the new version was uninstalled. The old version then had the option of selecting the old 2.07.img and then installing it on the helmets.

    Solved.

Apparently there is nothing wrong with the firmware. The 2.2 firmware allows for MESH 3.0 communications. Since R1 EVO (R1 M inside helmet) and R2 EVO helmets NOT upgraded to the new firmware cannot use MESH 3.0, you have to go into the Sena Cycling phone app and select the gear icon. Deselect MESH 3.0 under Device Settings. I can now communicate with my wife's older R1 EVO and my friends R2 EVO's.

The light issue is still a problem.

It would have been nice had there been any kind of support document or support response about that.  Instead I returned all 8 of the new helmets I had upgraded and purchased 8 replacements which I didn't upgrade this time.

David L....Sena should have not set the default setting of MESH 3.0 to on after installing the firmware.

Firstly, what a relief, knowing this problem doesn't only affect me. No technical support response to query via app-store and email. No comms, no nothing. Until I thought to check here this morning. My SENA M1 EVO had been working perfectly well, until the recent update version 2.2. Afterwards, the lights don't work. And trying to turn lights on using the SENA button causes the helmet to shut off/crash altogether. Not sure why it's taking SENA so long to fix urgently. Or at least provide a guide to revert to old version.

Good news. Submitted a ticket after trying the smart assistance / AI live support icon on the bottom right of the screen. SENA customer services contacted me same day. They are working on a general fix. They helped me restore an old firmware version & taillights now back on for my night rides. I suggest - submit a ticket - via the smart assistance tool.

Same issues as others. Support has been nearly non existent. After a week of back and forth the only suggestion I got was to reset the device to factory setting which does nothing. I also found that the intercom shuts off if I play music. Seems their software has gone backwards. Frustrating they offer no real solutions.
