I find that doing the reset with a paper clip in the hole on bottom of unit helps with the msg. Sena seems totally unresponsive to this issue. I was told to return the unit for replacement. I was getting ready for a long trip and could not do without it. I tried a higher rated voltage and amp charger. I was told they wouldn’t warranty it doing that because it said to only use at the level they recommended. I asked then why could we charge it on the motorcyle which has USB ports at higher voltage and amps. Good questions I was told. Never got an answer.

Well, now add me to the list of those with 50S battery issues. Unit had been working fine since I purchased it in May of this year. Suddenly last month, I noticed that the battery charge indicator would go from red to blue in a few minutes instead of a couple of hours. Using the unit would result in the "battery low" voice prompt within 10-15 minutes of usage. Contacted support, tried factory reset procedure, didn't work. Tried updating unit firmware, but the WiFi accessory isn't very cooperative, and would not connect unless I tried numerous times, and then it would drop the signal after a few minutes if I did connect. Tried to update manually, but the same WiFi connection issues. Very frustrating.

Support says that I am "in the queue" for RMA. Anyone know how long that will take? Not very happy with my purchase at the moment...

Hello everyone, i ran into exact same problem with the LED flashing blue although the batterie was empty. After an evening of a lot of swearing and wanting to light it on fire several times i finally figured out what to do. It i’snt a software issue, what i did was disassemble the sena, disconnect the battery, wait about half an hour and reassemble everything and now it seems to be charging just fine. For anyone wondering how to do it, there is a video on youtube showing how to take apart the 30k, the 50s works the exact same way.

Hey everyone I experienced this battery issue as well on my 50S. Sena offered to replace my unit under warranty however I did not really want to wait for it so I just replaced the battery myself. Here's a link to the youtube video I made on how I replaced the battery: https://youtu.be/uZQLlKiCcDM

My battery quit working today, Sena 50S. Gotta send it back. It is a pain to go a week or more without it at the start of riding season!

I got a replacement that works well.
I was told by their agent to never charge the unit for more than 1.5 hours. Overcharging kills the battery!

SO why is that not in the documentation? There is so much that Sena fails to tell us when we buy the units. I have no idea if the other companies who make communicators of Motorcycles do any better, but the problem is, I know how to use these and other than the batteries not lasting, they provide the necessary things I need.

50R here, same symptoms and low battery goodbye message.  I only got 16 months out of this and it was not cheap.  They are walking me though resets via email, and it's about time I look to another top player for my needs.  They know they have problems, make it right.

EDIT:  They emailed me July 27 2022 saying they would replace since under Warranty and I pay shipping back of defective unit.  No further information to share at this time, waiting on the replacement.

Does anyone know where (preferrably in the UK) I can get a replacement battery for my 50R, please?
I bought one from Alexpress, but it has only 2 wires (black and red)whereas the battery in me device has 3 (Black, yellow & red).

    Thank you.

    Hello,

I experienced exactly the same issues with my Sena SF2.

Charge LED turning red for 3 seconds, then blue and Sena won't charge. After reading all the comments on this post, I tried a disassembly to replace the battery. This is quite easy on this device, everything is held in place by basic screws.

Before replacing the battery I unplugged and re-plugged the original one one it's connector and this simple move solved my problem ! I have been using my Sena for a few hours now and I have not (yet) encoutered the problem again.

I keep my new battery for the next time this issue comes back.

Hope this will be useful to some of you.

Note : As far I am concerned, I think the battery did not like my rides to work by -7°C this winter.
