I would like to see the audio and intercom mixed; the audio muted, not removed, when intercom is used; and the audio 'returned' to volume after 5 to 10 seconds of silence, not 20.

If your left hand is free to press the jog dial, momentarily press the BMW audio on/off button instead - it is the audio mute for the BMW.
