Freewire transmit quit working last update
2013 Harley Ultra
I got the freewire for exactly what it's made for, to not have to plug into the bike to use the sound system.
I put a Y harness in under the seat so I could use a plug in helmet or the freewire without having to screw around with trying to find a place to have the freewire connected. The very idea of having a $250 piece of equipment attached to the handlebars means someone didn't think that one through too well.
So I've got one 7-pin connector in the normal place, in the gas tank console.
I also have a 7-pin connector in the tour pack. That's where I have the freewire.
I've taken a helmet with a Harley headset and made sure both outlets work with hearing and talking both on intercom and CB.
I have a helmet with the Harley mount.
I have a helmet with just the 20s mount
I have a half helmet with the SPH10H-FM
I talked to a handful of people via CB last week using the 20s mount and the freewire. I talked to a couple people using the Harley mount with the free wire. I talked to many people using the Harley mount plugged into the bike.
I've run the 20s on both helmets with both mounts. It worked fine. Last week I updated the firmware in the Freewire. Now I cannot talk on the CB nor can I be heard on intercom.
I've plugged in the Harley headset into both plugs again just to make sure they work, they do.
I've plugged in the cord for the Harley mount from Sena and used the CB all day yesterday (only plugged in) This is how I found out the mic part of the freewire no longer works.
I've reset the Freewire to factory and repaired with the 20s using the Harley mount. No mic with the Freewire. Mic works fine both with the phone and when plugged into the bike with a cord.
I've reset the Freewire to factory and paired it with the 10H-FM. Mic doesn't work on the Freewire but works fine when making or taking calls.
Help! Without the mic working on the bike, this Freewire is a waste of money, I can do listening stuff via my phone. I only bought it (and the 20s) to be able to use the CB wirelessly.

Just restored the firmware update and tried again. Mic still does not work. Tried on both ports. Does not work.

The mic to Freewire to Harley has never worked for me. I'm on the second Freewire. It's encouraging that it worked for you at one point.
I see Sena hasn't responded to your post and the have not been helpful in their responses to my support ticket (other than to do a warranty replacement, which didn't solve the problem.) I think they have a problem they aren't acknowledging.

I would suggest the following.
1. factory reset the 20s
2. delete the 20s on your phone
3. factory reset the freewire
Make sure you are doing the factory resets correctly.
Pair the 20S to your freewire using phone pairing. Do not pair the phone yet. And then test the mic with the CB.
If the mic works, pair your phone to the freewire using second phone pairing.

Hey Tim,
Did you also get a replacement cable, if not it might be bad cable?
If you have a phone paired with 20, try deleting it. Isolate the 20S and Freewire, do not pair anything else to the 20s.
Also do you know if the mic on the 20S is working?

Update: I got a replacement FreeWire from Sena via warranty. It pairs fine with my 20s and the mic works as is expected.
I've since returned the Freewire to no pairing and then paired it with a Cavalry helmet as the first phone then paired my iPhone as the second phone and have used the CB, intercom and my iPhone all pretty regularly as weather permits. Works as expected.

Yes, I got a replacement cable with the new Freewire. I was careful to plug it into the Freewire all the way.
Yes, the microphone works. We've had the pair of 20S units for a couple of years. We were able to talk to each other 20S to 20S while testing. (We disconnected the intercom while testing the CB so we were sure to hear the CB, not the intercom.)
The 20S is not paired with the phone. I paired it once to use the phone app, but did not pair it with the most recent test. I'll double-check that the pairing is deleted from the phone.
I did a factory reset of the Freewire by holding in the button for 14 seconds and tapping the button again. I reset the 20S by holding in the phone button until I heard, "Factory Reset." and tapped the jog dial.
I guess I could try the pin-hole method of resetting. Does it work the same on both units? - Press the button through the pin hole while the unit is on?
I'll try again.

I found the source of the problem and solution. See my comment in Questions - 20S

Mr Tim. I just bought a 20s and a Freewire for my Goldwing. I have not been able to get the mic to work. I have tried the factory reset and the repairing leaving the iPhone out of it. I still can not get the mic to work. I am waiting to hear from Sena tomorrow.

Unable to get mic working. Srl -> Freewire -> 2107 Ultra Boom. All software/firmware is up to date. I have 2 feeewires. Neither work for mic. Srl to iPhone works. Sena, tech support is useless. Wasted $500. Looking for different solution.

Rob Cote - Do you have anything plugged into the audio input jack? My freewire mic would not go through to the bike with something plugged into the audio input jack.

Hi Tim, thx for reaching out.
No, nothing in the audio Jack.
After a lot of back and forth with Sena support for 2 weeks, with crazy sets of pairing instructions, Sena finally ack’d today that the problem is with Srl and Freewire. They say they are working on a fix, but no eta.
We’ll see how committed they are to customer service. I have 2 new Neotec 2’s, and 2 freewires, “assuming” the SRL was a quality solution.

I have a new Sena freewire-01 with a 50S Bluetooth. I have the same problem with the Microphone. The Harley doesn't see a Moc plugged into it. My Harley is 2023. Both Senas are 2 months old. I can't even return it now and Sena has no tech support.
