New 30K won't turn on- maybe I bricked it?

PowerDubs, did you resolve your problem? I'm curious about the 30K. I'm not brave enough to buy one yet. After their 20S fiasco you would think that SENA would at least make sure the 30K worked before they shipped it.

Eric, I would have no worries about upgrading, its an amazing bit of kit.

Four of us upgraded together, and with the mesh and Bluetooth working hand in hand, it is seamless.

It will be frustrating for the Bluetooth users that will loose the whole chat when their host drops out of the mesh, and I can see those already looking to upgrade.

I'm having a similar experience with my sena 30k. I disconnected it while it was charging and now it will not respond what so ever, nor will the manager read the device.

Same here.  New 30K just installed.  Just updated & charged.   Bricked.

I went back and tried to re-install sofware.  Device is recognized on my MAC, so there is hope.   I re-installed the Sena device manager after taking out the old one.   Then ran through the install windows again.   This time, I found a "download" tab that I don't remember seeing before.   The download took about 10 minutes.  Before, my update took seconds...so something is different.

    Hoping for the best!

I literally bought my 30k 2 days ago from Cycle Gear and it worked during my initial setup and about 10 minutes of playing with it.  Then went to update the firmware, followed all directions and everything and this happened(see pic below).  Now the device wont turn on or anything, tried letting it sit and "charge" but that did nothing to help.  Tried the fault reset and every little trick of uninstalling software, reinstalling drivers, etc... The fact remains it just wont even turn on to try fixing the issue.

I put in a email to Sena explaining this issue today, i will update everyone on whether or not Sena replaces my 30K with a new unit or what they end up doing.

I've learned that several people updated theirs with no issues. Thinking the file that was downloaded was not downloaded 100% correctly and that's why it was a corrupted file.

Has anyone gotten a replacement 30k back from Sena? Or has their RMA'd unit they sent in fixed and sent back to them?  I'm curious what kind of time frame im looking at if Sena replaces it.  If not I'm returning it and going with another brand.

Did they update it at sena for you? Or did you get back a unit you had to update yourself? I'm almost afraid to try to update it after I get it back fixed.

    UPDATE:

I somehow was able to turn on the device today.  I have no idea why it let me turn it on now and not yesterday. Im thinking that the internal battery in the Sena had to die completely or something weird.

I used my wifes computer this time instead of my computer and did everything else the exact same and the update worked.  So im happy that i have it working fine now but im curious as to why it didnt update correctly the first time, and what happened besides time between Sunday night when it bricked and 4 hours ago when i picked it up and was able to get it to power on.  It did power on then died because the battery so i charged it immediately and it was like normal.  Both computers are Win 10 64 bit, i used the same Sena manager app on both computers and it downloaded through the manager on each computer. I have no clue what the difference was in any of it. Scared to update it later down the line when theres no warranty on it.

Good luck everyone with getting your Sena up and updated.

    BASIC STUFF:

    1. Turning these things on or off requires you to chord the "P" button on the back and the button in the center of the volume ring.   Was very embarrassed when my friend turned my unit on after I'd struggled all morning.

    2. There are some screens on the update program that are not completely intuitive...at least on MAC.    You can go through them and think you've completed and update...and not have done much.  A "real" update takes 10 minutes or more.    It should not be instant, even if you think you have a very fast computer...the brain in the SENA 30K is not fast.  That's the bottle-neck.  So, if you think you've done an update and it's not working right, go back and do it again, reading the each full screen all the way down.   I had to scroll to find a button that started the update.   If you just push "continue", it goes to the next screen and even renames your update version...but doesn't actually do it.   Go slow!!!

I turned on my volume boost and turned off my volume limiter....I don't suggest anyone do that!!!    I started the bluetooth music with new molded ear pieces and nearly broke my eardrums.    One touch of the volume knob changed it down...but it was so loud, I panicked.  That allow this massive sound to come through for about 5 seconds.   Dangerous!  Be careful!!!
