SC1 works very badly
Please intervene urgently because SC1 works very badly. Conversations over 60KM / h are very difficult. If a call arrives during an INTERCOM connection, the INTERCOM connection will not be re-established when the call ends. I need to turn off and turn both SC1 back on again to establish the INTERCOM link. If a call comes during an INTERCOM connection between two SC1, you can not answer with RC4 remote

Of course I set both on phone and helmet. The volume is ok when standing still but you cant here when you drive more than 50 km/hour

That's because smart volume control does not work at all

Higher cost, fewer features. That, my friends, is what is known as a con job.

Ah ah just saw that SENA did not work on your issues !
I have exactly the same issues on the new Shoei Neotec 2 and SENA SRL.
if you drive more than 80 KM/h you can hear anything and people can't hear you.
Smart Volume control does not work at all also...
And nobody from SENA help on this communityforum...
The answer from the support team is hard reset the kit but no effect.
I think in both case your and mine, we had to change to an external kit from another provider like quardo...
My old Q1 works very good....

So I bought a communication system that I cannot simply say 'Hello' via in-built microphone so as to connect with my passenger - also with an SC1 - AMAZING - Why didn't you put on the box, you won't be able to listen to music, say hello so it stops, and have a chat with your passenger like you can on our cheaper products.

Now at last I can say: Goodbye Schuberth C4 and Sena SC1. And welcome Schuberth E1 and Cardo Scala Rider Packtalk Bold. And to Sena -thanks for nothing... NOW I am happy again!!! Over and out...

So i just bought a SCHUBERTH C4 with sc1 standard...
i updated the firmware and downloaded the app from schuberth.
Then i activated boost and made a testrun.
First with Music Playing from my iPhone 7.
Had to turn it Down at 80 km/h. Otherwise it was to loud...
Then made a test making a phonecall...
i did a test at 120 km/h in Heavy oncoming Wind...
It was much better than i expected.. i would recommend this system and helmet to anyone who wants a flip-up with Low windnoise and loud and clear Sound during phonecalls and listening to Music.
I havent tried the Intercom function yet...Best regards from Denmark :-)

I'm on the receiving end of the Schuberth C4/SC1 and the Comm audio is terrible. I can't understand what my riding buddy is saying. It's sounds muffled and sometimes "tinny". We've done a myriad of things to try to improve audio quality via the forum suggestions but it's just terrible. Worst for me is that I had to purchase a Sena unit (20S EVO) to communicate with him because his SC1 wouldn't connect with my Cardo unit. It's too bad because when he had the Schuberth C3 Pro and comm unit (SRC - was made by Cardo) we never had any issues with audio clarity and range like we do now.

Floyd— How is your Sound in Music or phonecall?
I havent tried intercom yet and was thinking about a phone app for intercom instead og it is so bad.. :-)Best regards
Mark Jensen0 -
Mark,
The audio quality for music and phone are adequate however the Sena speakers are VERY directional so it is very critical that they be centered directly on your ear. That means you may have to check the location by sticking your finger between your helmet cheek pad and head and check where those speakers are in relation to your ear canal. I had to remove some foam padding on my cheek pads on my Arai XD4 to center the speakers. My riding buddy with his Schuberth C4 found his speakers weren't aligned with his ears and had to move them. Once you do that the audio clarity improves. Also one may have to add shims or spacers if the speakers are too far away from your ears.

Floyd - could be that i was lucky it fitted so Well for me then. :-)
But are you satisfied with it after a little modification? ;-)0 -
Mark, that's great your helmet speakers are aligned correctly.
Am I satisfied after the modification? No, not really. It's just not the audio quality but the entire interface and connectivity to my phone and GPS that doesn't work consistently. I won't bore you with details but suffice it to say that I am now pursuing the Cardo Packtalk unit to replace my Sena 20S EVO.

As a customer I think it is worrying that there all these regular inconsistencies. Clearly, the system is still in its infancy - or so it at least feels to me. Initially, I had issues with not being able to charge the new unit which turned out to be the battery not fitting properly into the slot. I had it fixed at the Schuberth plant in Magdeburg as I happened to drive by. I received imediate and friendly service there. However, now I am experiencing a distortion in the loudspeakers. You can still hear sound clearly but there is this constant distortion following the sound. I have updated the firmware to 1.2 and erased the bluetooth link in order to set it up again from the beginning but nothing has worked. Has anyone had anything like this happening to them?

I'm having ALL the issues that our fellow owners were coming across: distortions, inconsistent connection, the unit turning off for no obvious reason, forgetting the paired second unit, talking at a speed beyond 60mph/90kmh not really possible, turning on the VOX only possible whith screaming at it (with closed helmet, of course) causing surprized gazing pedestrians while in town...its a huge mess and like thrown away money. wish i knew that before and stayed with a C3Pro and Cardo's SRC...

The Sena SC1 is having so many issues as I previously stated before.
First think first I called the customer service from Schubert and there was a nice guy who said he is going to help me and ended up saying that I do not know how to use the system and then that this is actually a problem that I have to be claiming with SENA. Strange thing.
I have been in contact with a customer specialist from SENA for the last 4 months and we have been exchanging feedback many times. First, the SC1 is built based on Schubert asked for and, as a personal opinion, I think that the contract was very cheap and Sena ended up delivering the cheapest solution based on an in office department request. As the system meets all the minimum requirements, Schubert cannot complain on facts. I have try with this specialist from Sena many different connecting ways with my infotainment, phone, navigation and passenger. There is no way I could make the system work properly.
In the end, there is only one request from customers like us: "I pay high price. You give me top products".
As I am really frustrated with this thing SCHUBERT & SENA, and as I have been using systems from SENA way better than SC1 (as 20S, 10C, 10S...) I just threw both SC1 systems and both Schubert helmets on a closet and I bought the Neotec II with the SENA SRL system.
Guess what? in a very few seconds at a touch of a button I was able to connect everything I was looking for such: my motorcycle infotainment & mobile phone, my zumo and my passenger Bluetooth system and what a surprised: everything works clean, nice and easy.
I wonder who, at what point, how and when are they going to pay us back for this lie?!
It seems that there SENA and SCHUBERT have a dispute and we pay for it. As long as Sena delivers good quality products, there is no way an update cannot fix the problems we have. Sena has the expertise. But I guess they don't want to decide who is paying for working on the update that fix everything. I wonder why they don't ask us: I will agree to pay some more euros even tough it is not my fault.
It is obviously that they forgot about us.
and look up on online shop.. they are discounting both, C4 and SC1...wonder why

My SC1 Standard just came yesterday for my C4. I put it in, charged it up, updated the firmware and then paired it to my phone. It paired easily with my phone but i had issues pairing it with my BMW R120RT. It finally did pair.
This is suppose to be a premium brand... The audio quality is horrendous! I comute 2 hours a day on my bike so I purchased the SC1 to listen to music and to have the ability to answer calls while I commute without having to pull over on the busy interstate highway. Music from the BMW radio is too bad to even listen to and the quality from my phone is poor at best.
Not sure if it is the mic in the helmet or the SC1 it's self but the mic is not working AT ALL. No one can hear anything from me. I have tryed multiple phones, rest the device and even re flashed the firmware and nothing made a difference.
This is the first "Premium" helmet that I have ever bought, my first (and last) Schuberth helmet and "Sena" system. This is very disappointing...

Its because there is 10k SENA for 350€ in C4 and not 30k ... that’s 75% of the problem, rest is solved in C4 pro with microphone out of the soft part of the helmet. If I knew this I would buy C3 pro and Sean 30k separately for lover price and getting much better quality...

I would love to know how to setup triangle sena in C4 plus xDiavel S (2016) plus mobile phone the way it will pair EVERY SINGLE TINE automatically and it will WORK CORRECTLY which means I see what’s happening (phone call, song name ...) in xDiavel screen and I would be able to change the song etc in the helmet without lowering audio quality or listening to both music and call...
Can anyone with Ducati help me?

Michel, I was foolish to get it... My loss their gain...

I have a C4+SC1 and experience the system turns off while closing the visor, then I have to turn it back on again (always works - so it is not a persistent problem), did someone have the same issue and find a solution for this? Thanks!
1 -
Kariel, I had the same issue also. I put a piece of very thin plastic in next to the battery on the opposite side of the contacts so that it would sit tighter on the contacts. I have not had this issue again. It kind of sucks that with a premium brand helmet with a premium brand communication system that you would have to do something like that.

Thanks David! will try this out and update, it is frustrating indeed...

Well, after examining the implementation of the battery slot in the helmet, it is clear why it would cause disconnections, it is loose and being held only at the top when the connectors are below, and there is side support only from one side.
This is either poor design or a serial defect.
After "extending" the battery so to "jam" it in the slot, I have so far not experienced the disconnections.

I pulled the plastic out and used a small piece of foam (very small) on the side opposite of the contacts and the retaining clip. This seems to work much better. You're right Kariel, Seems like a poor design...

It is an old topic but maybe can be updated.
I bought a Schuberth C4 Pro. Speaker quality is worse then my previous Sena 20S but acceptable. However the micophone quality is horrible. My wife has a Sena Outrush helmet and she complain all the time she can't understand what I'm saying. Also other friends with Sena 20S, 30k and 50R can't understand me.0 -
Serhan, With the C4 helmet make sure that you have the face shield closed because your microphone is in the top of the helmet right above where your visor goes in. Schubert changed the design of where the microphone is, in the updated ones, the microphone is in the cheek pad now so it doesn't have this issue. If my face shield is open nobody can hear what I'm saying but if it's closed people hear me really well. Make sure that you also have the application on your phone so that you can make the adjustments to it, if you turn the noise canceling on it generally works good.

David, thank you for your quick reply.
My C4 pro is updated version and microphone is on cheek pad. I also use the app and tried many different combinations but nothing changes. I reset the device but it didn't work. The volume is loud but my voice is not clear. They can't understand what I'm talking about. I have to repeat several times. It's like there's something in between with the microphone that makes my voice muffled. Even my friends asked me if that's why you cover your mouth with balaklava.
Is there a way to upgrade or replace the microphone for testing?
