10S Bluetooth Unit w/Bell Qualifier DLX Helmet
I’m trying to figure something out here that I haven’t been able to get an answer to. I have a Bell Qualifier DLX helmet with the built-in port for the Sena SMH-10 unit, but I want to run the updated 10S unit.
I know I need to use the separately sold Bell clamp kit for it to fit but my concern is I’d be using the sub-par speakers from the clamp kit and not the upgraded 10S speakers? Is this the case? If so, is there a reason to get the upgraded 10S if you can’t use the speakers? Any way to run the 10S speakers with the clamp kit?

I'm looking, as well as many others, for the EXACT same answer....

Hi Jeff,
I got it figured out after searching a while and talking to SENA. Essentially, they don't make a 10S clamp kit for the Bell DLX. You can run a 10S unit in the SMH-10 Bell clamp kit but because the speakers are permanently wired to the clamp kit, your sound will be restricted by the older SMH-10 speakers. FYI - On review's I've read some people say the fit isn't even right anyway.
I just bought the SENA SMH-10 Bell complete kit for around $150. You save a few bucks this way but they're harder to find as the complete kit vs. buying the parts separately. I didn't want to pony up the difference for the 10S unit to not have the speaker upgrade. And I didn't need the extra range, basically only wanted the 10S for improved sound.
I will say, You could potentially cut the wires on the SMH-10 speakers and splice in a new set of 10S, but I cant guarantee that would work. I assume it runs a similar current though. Or just run a regular 10S clamp kit under the helmet.
Overall, I'm happy with the functionality of the SMH-10 unit. Speakers are loud enough, just wish they had more clarity and bass. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the assist. I'm trying to decide what route I want to go. I really hate that they don't just make a clamp for the 10s. Seems like a rather obvious decision to be made on their part. Maybe they will soon. In the mean time I think I may stick with my earbuds until I can decide. I really just wanted it for the hands free option for calls, navigation, etc. I do like listening to music and I would prefer it not sound like crap so I'm not sure what the clear choice is. UClear AMP is one choice I'm looking at. Any experience with that unit?
Thanks again.

For what it's worth, apparently the 10S speakers aren't that much of an upgrade, the unit just has better range for more riders and updated software abilities. The SMH-10 is fine for navigation and hands free calling. I was sick of using ear buds but the price vs. convenience is a factor of course. I haven't used the Uclear AMP at all. But soon enough I'll be looking for better speaker options.

im a bit confused. here seems to be a bell qualifier dlx clamp kit specifically for the 10s and its more expensive than the smh10 clamp kit. i assume it must be the upgraded version?

Steve - you're correct. The 10S clamp kit for the Bell DLX you reference was not available last summer when this thread was started. The SMH-10 is an older model compared to the 10S.
